The dark ritual isn't mentioned in those three options. My guess is they want to keep that underwraps for future development, but also because it isn't certain to have happened anyway.
And as far as I'm concerned it's possible to be the Hero of Ferelden without doing the Dark Ritual. If my playthrough wasn't bugged, all the Warden has to do is make Alistair king with Anora, spare Loghain (fight him yourself), refuse the Dark Ritual, then allow Loghain to perform the Ultimate Sacrifice. The Warden survives and gets all the plaudits.
The dark ritual doesn't have to be mentioned -- it's obvious from the descriptions that it was done in the first instance and not in the second two.
Hero of Ferelden has Alistair alive and solo king, and the warden survived. So the ritual was done. The other two have a warden dying. So the ritual wasn't done.
No matter what ending you have in DAO, you're still the Hero of Ferelden. After all, you're the one who pulled it all together!

Even the fact that there might be a char-gen GUI makes me very happy.Seb Hanlon wrote...
Remember, there's a big difference between "default" and "canon". "Default" really means nothing more than "if you don't open that part of the char-gen GUI, that's the one of the three packaged openings you get".

In the past, numbers and statuses would fill the screen and possibly befuddle the player on what truly was taking place when participating in the battle. Now, Dragon Age II takes that all way and, instead, gives only what is needed: gorgeous animations with a much cleaner HUD.
Well, that's just great. Now we have no way to see how much damage we are dealing or taking?!?

Just great.

If they fall over and bleed, you can stop hitting them. If you fall over and bleed, you need to hit them harder. Or have better armor. Or both. That's my general rule of thumb.Top Gun volleyball wrote...

What I find interesting is that the origin and race of the warden actually matter. I think this hints to a cameo appearence of the warden. Why else would it matter what the warden looks like.
I agree - being this specific about the Warden in default settings REALLY suggests to me he/she will play a bigger role than suspected. A cameo would be awesome.
Cool.

For the love of all thats holy, make this be so. But Please for the love of the maker do not make us fight them, I know straight away who would win between my Hawke and Warden.

It would also be nice to see some tension brought on by the origin. I would love to see people complaining about having to deal with an uppity elf or a dangerous mage as the new hero of Ferelden. Or diplomatic tensions between Kirkwall and Ferelden because the Kirkwall ruler doesn't want to be diplomatic with the bastard son of a servant, etc.UltraBoy360 wrote...

Wow, they really made it so you have to play Origins in order to make it so you have your wanted choices, didn't they?

Hah, none of those come close to my canon
I think this sums it up nicely.
Heck, none of those allow you to have had Alistair make the US. Not that that was my canon, BTW. (HN Warden->DR | Loghain->recruited | Alistair->executed | Anora->sole monarch)

I know we were told it would not go into depth, but I wonder if all of these default imports have the same choices (Mages, Bhelen, etc.), and if so, what are they?

The only one that might matter would be the monarch of Orzammar. The rest is rather insignificant in the long run.

Do we know which Origin the Hero of Ferelden is? Please, by god, don't be the Human Noble. I'm sort of hoping for a Mage Origin, just for the Hawke connection.
Also, can one of the devs please tell us if they meant "executed" or "exiled" Alistair? Since there's a pretty big (cameo-wise) difference.

We don't know that. Anyways, some choices happened. I'd just like to know what that is, if just for curiosity.
