You know having glass tables around anything that emits sound results in that?

Constant beat causes the glass to crack, and glass is actually a liquid... and the saftey glass thats used is actually more brittle then pure glass.

Every time you put a mug down hard etc it causes micro fractures... over a few months they actually repair themselves which is why its not a big problem... UNLESS they are exposed to constant vibrations.. which not only cause cracks themselves.. stop cracks healing, and can hit the write note to cause sympethic vibrations making it just seem to BLOW up.

Gee mom, did you have to pick up his socks off the floor again?

To the OP, I've had that happen to a coffee table, I just placed my mug on it and the glass just shattered, as someone pointed out, because of the way it's manufactured, it only takes a small flaw a tiny fracture and eventually the whole thing gives.

The frame must have been twisted and put pressure on the glass?

You're all wrong. The glass was just rogue! It's too obvious I guess, so noone mentioned it. :P
