Sorry for the weird title, but can someone help me out? I had Mass Effect 1 and finished it. I have the save file saved on my computer as well. I had ME1 as an actual CD, and ME2 through Steam. So now, I'm wondering, if I buy Mass Effect 1 through Steam, what would happen to my save files in the original Mass Effect 1 game? Will I still be able to access my characters with the new Mass Effect 1?
Thanks, also, didn't know where to post this.

I doubt transitioning from a CD to Steam would affect the way you save anything. So, yes, you should be able to access your save files from the CD.

You can use saves from anyone, anywhere. There's even a website devoted to providing ME saves:
masseffectsaves.com
In your case, just make copies to be on the safe side, and then stick them into whereever it is Steam sticks the ME save directory. You may not even have to do anything.
