That's the only way I wouldn't miss Arcane Warrior.

Edit: To the above poster, you can still equip armor if you pump your str high enough... at least you could a few months ago when I asked.

We can be a Jedi?
Incidentally, this Shepard looks just like my "main" Shepard. 'tis unsettling, it's like she came to life and started posting on the forums.
But of course, since we don't get cloaks we can't really be Jedi. Damn you, BioWare! *cancels preorder*
LOL great minds think alike, clearly. This is my main Shepard too

The playstyle is still supported, mages still have melee attacks, the only difference is people will actually have to balance their stats this time around to play like that... which is a good thing in my eyes.

Yeah, I think people who want to focus on melee mages can still do it-they just have to focus on spells and abilities that supplement that playstyle instead of getting Arcane Warrior and instantly having access to so much power. They can take Staff Focus (if it's still in) to help their melee attacks, Rock Armor, some buffs, and maybe a healing spell or two.

But mages should totally be able to wear armor without investing in strength and defend as well as warriors while still casting spells. I mean, that's what people play mages for, right? To wear massive plate armor and get right into the thick of combat.
Maria beat me to a sarcastic remark about people mourning the loss of an overpowered specialization.

And now they use staves to fight in melee as well. How much different is it now?

And only 3 specs per class? Well, as long as they're deeper trees and have more unique moves than the ones in Origins, I won't mind. I was sick of all the extremely similar buff abilities and their upgrades, there.

Couldn't care less about arcane warrior. Only reason I took it was because of the horrible staff animations.
Stats =/= aesthetics.Russalka wrote...

And mages NEEDED that aesthetical upgrade.

I'm excited about that. I might even play a mage this time around! I can be a magic casting mage! Who would'a thunk that?

I doubt that's easy to intentionally do without manually moving a character close to the target. Kind of impossible to involve in tactics.Aztec Gold wrote...
We didn't lose anything really. Mages can still dish out melee attacks if they want. That's the way I see it, at least.

He won't be missed. And look, we might get a mage specialization that actually involves magic! Not possession from beyond the veil, or forbidden arts, or becoming a melee death machine! A spec with actual, pure, blasting, magic!

Blasphemy! But seriously, I agree completely. When I play a mage, I want to be wearing a dress, standing in the back lines, and throwing fireballs because if I did anything else I could break a nail. And that's how it's supposed to be. (Exaggeration).
But yeah, I never understood the desire for Arcane Warrior (though I do understand the desire for multi-classing); if you want to fight in armor with swords and such so bad, why not just play a warrior?

Mostly for RP reasons, and it adds a bit of flavor to melee combat. I just started a new DAO play through and DLed the multiclass mod, I made a 2 hander fighter, with some drain life and raise undead. Throw in some debuffs and I have a sort of antipaladin type... guy. It isn't necessary no, it just adds more options to play style.
Of course if I had my way there wouldn't be classes at all.

Fair enough. I'm speaking more for gameplay reasons, but if you factor in RP value, then everything is worthwhile to someone, sometime.
