Walking is pretty useless in combat, the walk button should have been used for crouching (with drawn weapon).

Crouching is very important for high level play, as it allows you to keep your head down while moving from one cover to the next.
No crouching resulted in many frustrating deaths in my playthroughs, so yes, please (re)add what is a standard in shooters since forever.

If I recall they said it was a balance issue.  And it doesn't do what you are saying in high level play.  You move slower when crouched so I don't see how it helps other than the abuse we were seeing with it or to be extra accurate in ME1.  ME2 got rid of the ME1 accuracy system so there really is no need for us to crouch while firing now.

Crouching needs to be brought back...and it would be nice to have the ability to roll when needed.

Shepard doesn't bow down for no one. Except maybe Miranda and Liara.

You are in a situation like for example the collector trap where there are several chest high walls within different distance from you. Mr. Annoying (Harbinger) is about to slowly flank you, while several collectors fire at you. You need to change your position or else Harbinger will fry you, once he moved arround the cover.

Option #1 without crouch:
leaving cover to change position to other cover, standing up, right into the firing line of the collectors, taking heavy damage
Option #2 with crouch:
leaving cover but staying crouched, collectors can not see you (or barely), you slowly move to the next cover position without taking any damage

Which option is the logic one?
Why is this so hard to understand?
If it is a "balance issue", then why don't thousands of other shooters not have this problem? How can there even be any concern for this OPTION which is already coded and animated, ready to go?

They took crouching out because Gears of War doesn't have crouching.

I'm happy with the current duck behind X object except, as mentioned before, I hate accidentally jumping back into enemy fire. Crouch can be useful but it isn't an integral part of my ME experience. Other games yes, ME no.

And for some humor - Dara O Briain on crouching in video games

You don't need crouch in a game that has an actual sticky cover mechanic.

Not true. The only difference between aiming in ME1 and ME2 is that ME1 had a circle, ME2 has crosshairs. Accuracy is much the same - some weapons are accurate, some aren't, especially rifles like the Avenger. Bioware could easily add an accuracy modifier for Shep being crouched.

There's a world of difference between weapons having different levels of accuracy and having your accuracy entirely determined by how many stat points you had in your shotgun skill.

But it does have roadie running which is even better, plus there are a lot more cover options in the game which can help save your life.

Edit=spelling.

crouch, the ability to do rolling and to go from cover to cover, after that, the shooter part will be perfect.

Ps: Sorry if I wrote something wrong. English isn't my natal language

Crouching is absolutely useless when Shepard is already crouched in low cover. What you people want is to circumvent cover all together and abuse the line of sight. That is obviously not intended hence why they removed it in the first place.

All they need to do is to adopt the Gears of War cover system where when you are at the edge of your cover, you can tap direction+A or w/e your button is to quickly swap into new cover.

Its not like we have kinetic shields to absorb bullets for us when we are sprinting from cover to cover or anything

I really don't understand why we can't crouch in ME2, crouch is always importante for games that involve bullets trying to hit you, when I played in insane difficulty I realized how much I miss this option so I hope BW read this and consider it added :)

Fat Chance. It's an homage to Doom 2.

If a huge aspect of the game is to funnel the player into cover to make the game, ya know, a cover based shooter, then giving the player more and more options by which to simply bypass cover isn't exactly a good idea. The reenforce "get into cover" by making you take damage when you aren't in it.

I didn't miss crouching when just walking around, but there have been a few times that I wouldn't have died if I had been able to crouch while stuck to a high-piece of cover.

well, for the ppl who don't want crouching back- they don't need to change anything, they just need to add a crouch button (putting it in L button that does the same thing as R button on X360[L3 and R3 on PS3]), who don't like to crouch just don't use it, simple. All of us will be happy :)

Having a button to crouch will also allow us to storm up to cover and choose whether or not we vault over it or crouch behind it in one fluid motion.

Must have it back.

Crouching was a good strategic ability in ME1, they swapped it with vaulting in ME2 which wasn't a bad touch. In ME3 I wouldn't mind the ability to crouch and vault.

Removing walk would be one of the worst things to do for ME3.

Wait, there is a walk button?(huh left control aparently)

Exactly what does walk add to the game play.  Do you ever actually walk instead of the normal shepard jog and occasioanl storm speed movement.  It is not like this is a platform game and I'm about to walk on a narrow beam.  Yes, people walk in real life, but I doubt anyone who plays the game actually uses it.  Having just tried it, the speed is so slow I can't conceive of walking aorund town like that and you sure as heck wont move that slow in combat.  Go ahead remove walk I'm sure it will effect what 5 people on the planet.

Roadie running is pretty much sprinting like what ME2 has.  It's just that ME2 has alot shorter sprinting distance and a longer cooldown compared to roadie running in Gears of War.

Crouching wouldn't do much for combat. And it looked ridiculous in ME1. Let it stay dead, I say.

I always walk off-mission. I like my game with as much immersion as possible and I'm not one to run around nightclubs or in and out of stores. Someone would want to ask me what my hurry is. They might ask hard. I don't have all day to be issuing out ShepSmacks to people.

I'm sure you and the four other people on the planet who do this would miss walk greatly.
