*Shepard and company gather upon the Citadel to be presented awards*
Council: "And it is at this moment that we would like to thank one particular person who stood up for us in the face of danger. He crossed many thresholds of destruction and opposition, but in the end...he made us realize what was worth fighting for. The road to victory wasn't always easy...even WE had given him a hard time. All we can say now is.....Thank you......Conrad Verner."
Conrad: YAY! I knew I could do it! See that Shepard? Maybe now we can fight more bad guys together! I can't wait until my wife sees this medal!"

Miranda: "What's wrong?"
Shepard:...."I've remembered who I was. The Alliance....lied about my identity...from the beginning."

Shepard: "My name is not Shepard....it is Revan. A dark force is coming....the Reapers were just the beginning. Something darker has approached, and I have to find it. I'm sorry...but you have to stay behind."

Important: listen to this - skip to 6:30 - and read:
Shepard is badly beaten, alone and naked in the dark - most of her companions are lost - the Reapers are whispering in her ear - she struggles as hard as any human possibly can to get to the light at the end of the tunnel - everything she's ever prepared for has been for this moment - the whispers are now screams - crawling forward, she desperately clings to the thought of all the people she's fighting for - the machines try relentlessly to crush her mind - she screams in pain - she almost doesn't make it - then one thought lances through the chaos: a figure standing in the void of her mind.. the figure turns to look at Shepard.. Shepard cries when she realises who it is.. and then the figure smiles at her - the Reapers make one final push - Shepard makes one final push back - she barely reaches the end of the tunnel - she nearly can't take it anymore - through the tears, she smiles, "I love you, Liara..." - she turns the failsafe key. (wait for 7:35**)
Oh I know... very cliched. But they could do it right.
**That should've taken a minute to read.
EDIT: Shepard doesn't necessarily die here; plenty of room for a happy or sad epilogue
Influences/references: Ending to the Fountain, ME: Retribution, Desmond Hume in Lost
Double Edit: I think ^that^ could be the last line, but not necessarily the end - I'd still like an epilogue like the ending they had for the Last Samurai... I like how there's no actual dialogue for the final scene.
