I wish we could get that Squad Command system in where you can tell the party member where exactly where you want them to go.

Its so sad that they abandoned what made Mass Effect great in ME2 and ONLY focused on improving combat. I don't care how much more fluid or fun the combat is than in ME1 if everything else they did was a step backwards from what they did in ME1. I really need to stop looking at videos like that cuz it just reminds me of the painstaking fact that ME2 lacks any and all of that feeling that we got from ME1. So frikin aggravating.

I'll jump in and say that I also love the galaxy map seen in that video. The best part, in my mind, is seeing the 'territory' markings on the zoomed out, full-galaxy screen. I've always heard areas referenced, such as the Attican Treverse, or the Terminus Systems, but I've never been able to really pinpoint where they are. This would be a great way to give some more definition to these areas.

I agree. I've often wondered where the borders were exactly.

The Galaxy map would be amazing, especially seeing as its now 2010 and 2011. Done now it would be doubly epic and even better looking than in that vid

If everything Casey Hudson says in this demo comes true in ME3, that would be just perfect. Neither ME1, and specially not ME2 could live up to what this demo indicates and they turned out amazing anyway. Now if BioWare can actually make this original vision really come true in ME3...sweet

Of course the galaxy map looks great, wanna know why? It's a concept video, not a functioning map. They put that together to give themselves an idea on how they wanted the map to operate in-game.

Maybe the old Map could work with the kinect ala Minority Report.

Not that I could use it been on PC.

Oh man, so much Nostalgia, lol. What an old video! So neat to see the game when it was at that stage, it is like an entirely different game.

The map and squad status are pretty neat, so much different than what we have now. The characters in that video, Shep and the crew especially, look so much different, they almost make me think of Dragon Age characters. Crazy how things changed.

I got to jump on the bandwagon with this one. That map does look very nice. Everything else, mainly the backdrops have this shiny tone to it that makes the environments stand out.

Okay enough with the galaxy map! I'm surprised that nobody has brought up the music. In the demo, it sounded a bit more synthetic in comparison to ME1 and ME2 where there is more of an orchestrated score instead of a synthetic score.

This is why ME1 was so much better then ME2. Even with them only keeping 45% of what was in the video.

I enjoyed almost everything except for the squad combat but that is my own opinion.

This is exactly the point i was trying to make in posting the video.  ME2 absolutely nailed the combat gameplay.  It is awesome.  Playing a high level character on insanity sucessfully is one of the best experiences I've had in any game.  However, ME2 lost "something."  Its hard to point a finger at.  You see a lot of threads about it on these forums.  Its the sci-fi vibe and feel that I think was lost, and its that feeling that is displayed in the beta vid.

I was talking to a friend of mine and she  summed up the differences between the 2 games perfectly.

Mass Effect 1 was your first. That boyfriend you've been saving yourself for. He popped your cherry, showed you something new and even lit some candles and had some mood tunes in the background.

Mass Effect 2 was rebound guy. The guy who'll stick his finger in your butt and pull your hair. He's better looking,  is better in bed and he doesn't need music or candles but he's just not as intimate as guy number 1.

Mass Effect 3 is the potential new dude. The one you hope will know when to light candles and play mood music; and when to pull your hair and smack your ass.

Thanks to her I now clench my buttcheeks when I fire up ME2.

That galaxy map looks good so far we can see of it,but I'm still not sure how it would play out in a game with 40+ hours such as Mass Effect; remember: we use the galaxy map a lot and to not get something annoying it must be very, very efficient and quick to use.

ashley williams sounded so different in that demo guessing they got a different actress to do it for the actual ME1.

Liked that the scenery was able to be damaged and the night battle was pretty cool. But there is probably good reasons why they did not do what they showed in the demo

Look at 3:23 min. View camera fixed behind Ashley. There was an option to control your team mates in beta i think.

Becides, here  is the video from beta version, but with Arnold Schwarzenegger starring as commander Sheppard :) (fan made, comedy style, not mine video)
