 I'm just wondering how many people on this forum have actually saved Wrex from dying their first time through Mass Effect. Whether it be through charming/intimidating him, or doing his sidequest. 

If you didn't save him, what was your reaction? If you did, what was your reaction when you first heard he could die?

For me, I kinda had that spoiled for me early on,<_< so I made sure to do that sidequest.

My first time I couldn't because my Paragon/Renegade wasn't high enough. I didn't really understand the whole concept of P/R at that time, but I did try to save him through the other conversation options.

Saved him with the paragon option. I think I already knew though, I know I made sure to pick up his family armor... no way I was gonna let Wrex die.

I saved him - already did his armor quest which makes it easy.

I saved him first time. I left Virmire till after I did most of the game, so I had the points in the renegade convo stat to talk him down. I think if they forced me to kill Wrex I might have stopped playing, he was such a great squad mate.

"I was a noob, and yet because I read up about the game before buying it on wikipedia, I knew that there was a chance he could die.



After that when I realized I liked him, I asked a friend who had played the game how to get Wrex to survive, he told me 'paragon and charm' so I did just that.



The encounter on Virmire actually did shock me as it came up unexpectedly, but I still got through with no difficulty. I was terrified of failure but I succeeded, as I have every other time since.

I did. I always go full charm/intimidate before doing anything else.

I actually didn't know he could die when I did my first playthrough, it was only after I realized that if I did not have enough charm or intimidate, he could have been killed.

Good rule of thumb: Do every Paragon quest available in the game, always select Paragon conversation options, and use charm as much as possible and things will generally work out ok.

I stumbled across his family armor sidequest the first time I played not knowing he could be killed. I thought he always survived until a couple of playthroughs until that b*tch Ashley killed him and I was all like " YOU STUPID B*TCH!"

Yeah, me too.  I didn't even have him in my party when I did, nor had I even gotten to the conversation where he tells you about the stuff, so I go talk to him and suddenly he's all "DUDE! My armor!" I, on the other hand, was all "DUDE! What armor? What the hell was that all about?" I did realize, however, that it had something to do with him backing down on Virmire.  That was so obviously one of those "big choice" moments that I knew something was up when it just short-circuited like that.

I managed to do his armor sidequest the first time through, so he survived. Good thing too; when I looked back afterwards, I realised that I wouldn't have had enough Charm/Intimidate points to save him if I hadn't done the armor quest. Saved him every single time since.

I'm in it for the story. My first run through of a game I always max conversation skills and never say no to a sidequest. Wrex was talked down paragon style.

Edit: I don't remember really finding out Wrex could die, I just  assumed that if I hadn't charmed him things wouldn't have gone well so having it confirmed didn't leave an impression. However, I do remember fInding out Ashley would have shot him if I failed, one of many reasons Ash is at the bottom of my list of favorite characters.

I saved him, didnt even have to use paragon or renegade. His family quest is more than enough to save him.
