This is the msg I get when installing from 2 different sets of disks, and 2 downloads: 
Installation Failed!
The installation of Mass Effect 2 had failed.
A data error occured.

It happens at random times, ususally very quickly.  One thing I noticed is that it seems to always happen when extracting *.rar files.  So, my question is this:  Does ME2 use the 7zip I have installed or does it use it's own unzip?  If I download and default another unzip program, will it make a difference?

I have tried a couple of times to manually unzip, but I can't even get that off the ground, probably incompetence on my part.

It's been over two weeks now, so any imput would be greatly appeciated.  Thanks.

It should come with it's own extraction software. I would try to upgrade the zip program, or install another. Maybe there is also a problem with your system. Does it meet the minimum specs? Have you installed Windows updates?

I have a new pc, i3, nvidia 240, EVERYTHING is updated etc etc
