Ashley or Kaidan - whoever gets left behind on Virmire. (Though, let's face it, part of the reason why that death is so affecting is that there's no way you can save them both.)...Yeah, because being racist is a death penalty offence.Xeranx wrote...
Well Pressly is racist and therefore deserving of his fate.
(Is it just me, or is there a certain amount of this reaction to any character to whom Bioware dares to give the slightest complexity in terms of a flaw to overcome?)
Indeed that is what made it such a hard choice. Nothing like being the best and brightest of the galaxy, and still be unable to save both your friends.
And yeah, pretty much. People like to condemn Ashley's so-called racism.
Let me put it this way: Some other country attacks some country, kills alot of people and then some other country goes "Oh it was a misunderstanding, treaty, now." Wouldn't they be a little pissed, too?
Turians attack Shanxi, kill humans, humans take back Shanxi, truce. Don't lie, if they had not interacted with turians, like Ashley, they'd have some pretty strong opinions about them before they even met them. Add on top how her grandfather was treated, it could easily be she blames the Turians for that as much as the Alliance Politicians.
If you paragon her, she becomes a bit more tolerable, learns that aliens and humans aren't that different, there are murderers and saints in every race. In Mass Effect 2, she says "I don't like Aliens" Or something like that, and everyone says she's still racist. Do they like every human they meet? No. And she points out that she'd never do anything extremist about it. Making her more of a bigot than a racist.
Sorry, don't mean to imply anything or sound insulting to you, just some of the comments people post on here about Ashley's bigotry really bug me(if you couldn't tell
That being said, I think Pressly dying was a nice touch to the story, it gave you that kind of small shock when you learn he really doesn't make it. I miss him a little bit, but I enjoyed the part he played, while he played it, and the part he plays after, with the flashback and the datapad at the N. Crash site.
