I dug up another thread on the old BioBoards that might be useful, too:

The only other thing I can say is to make sure you're not forcing anything from the Nvidia control panel (e.g., triple buffering is a known offender), but you likely already know that.

Also that happens when you use an unsupported resolution.

Now you might not have realized I was talking about this game but it's the only one I know of that uses a hardware accelerated 3D mode (OpenGL).Note that I DO NOT RECOMMEND to use this patch with Baldur's Gate 2
My monitor/video card support all the video modes that the game can use.
Edit: The patch doesn't apply even if I wanted to either since the game isn't supported by it and thus the patcher stops it self.

not sure what the latest version number is. (Is it 26498?)
Thats the ToB patch.
Its definetly a resolution problem, before my first response, i installed a fresh copy of bg2 soa n tob and ran it on a few different resolutions, when i tryed 1280 by 960, i got the same exact thing in the videos that were linked.

Yes, you're right. I'd completely forgotten all about the 'unsupported' resolutions. The only unsupported mode that has ever worked consistently for me is 1024x768.ZombieChow wrote...

If it keeps asking you then on a loop...wait till it does its thing for the last coordinate and just exit it and use the BG2 configure option and choose the first unsupported resolution, 1024 by 768.
Btw if u still want to use that high resolution...it wil work, but u will notice the game screen becomes a box and becomes smaller with black areas filling the gap from the box, to the edge of ur monitory screen.
My max resolution is 1440 by 900, but i use the same as sponge, 1024 by 768...game still looks great.

All you need to do is apply the change in
widescreen/lib/get_dim.tpa, and then install as usual.

End result: No glitchy menu and I can live with it being centered/not scaled.
Edit: What are Jarno Mikkola's for? I don't follow his explanation for his changes that well or how to implement them.

I'm after trying 1600x900 as I find everything a bit too small at 1920x1080.
Here is a log from me uninstalling the MOD, uninstallation does not seem to work as I can not use BGConfig to choose a resolution anymore, it is stuck on 1920x1080.

Here are some instructions for building and maintaining a clean install, so you can avoid further frustration in the future.
The Widescreen mod has also been updated to v3.01, so you can install that from scratch, too.
