Shouldn't Bioware reveal something about "bonus character" before SE preorder expires?

Because, you know, s/he is a major part of appeal of Signature Edition. Soundtrack and 4 in-game weapons (either stupidly overpowered or quickly obsolete) are just too small for incentives. And since in a lot of places SE costs like it is a Collector's, and not "free upgrade", some more info on what we are getting is required.
EDIT: Rephrased topic to avoid thread torning into prophecies.

Did they reveal "Shale" for the original game? No.

Chance they will reveal the secret extra companion for the sequel? Tiny.

I don't think any retail places are increasing the cost of the SE. The PC version is 60 dollars, just like the console versions.

Yes but was Shale offered as a pre-order character? As far as i know she wasn't because I bought the normal release version and still got the stone prisoner as a free DLC.

No they're saying there was a similar promotion when Origins released and Shale was the "secret character".

Everyone who bought a retail copy of DA:O recieved Shale free, but he was still a "secret companion character".
I think we can safely assume that the "secret character" that is with the signature edition will also be offered up as DLC at one point, probably sooner rather than later - but that is speculation.

My point is that Bioware promoted Shales secret character in a similar fashion (Buy Dragon Age: Origins and recieve a bonus companionFree!") to what they're doing this time around, which is why I would find it very odd if they revealed the character before release.

The secret character is not marketed as exclusive to the SE. This is just EA´s usual marketing spiel that makes it sound as if the DLC that you get for project ten dollars, or whatever it is called, is only part of the exclusive edition but it then ends up in the regular edition as well. This happened with The Sims3; DA:O and ME2 and probably other EA games I did not follow before their release.
So if your only reason for the SE is the bonus character you can with 90% security just as well purchase the regular edition.

The special items are just silly as a boon.

If I want overpowered weapons early on, I can just find some mods.

Additional voiced characters woven into the storyline with dialoges with other NPC's? - Not so much!

Fully voiced characters are very expensive to produce, therefore making one exclusive to such a silly thing as a preorder bonus is a waste. But they are ideal content for "Project 10 dollar" because everyone bying a second hand copy will feel like they miss out on something significant and will want to by them.

PC games sell at $50 because the developers pay no licensing fee to Microsoft or Sony.  So the PC master race is paying an additional $10 for the DLC.  It's not really a deal for us.

No, the poor US detachment of the PC master race has to fork over an extra 10 dollars, not for the DLC, but because more and more publishers are raising the standard base price of new PC games to 60 dollars.

You know, that’s just one of those well thought out corporate decisions meant to encourage people buying the game new - instead of downloading it or buying it second hand - and to stimulate the PC gaming market, allowing it to crawl out it’s current stagnation and to grow, thus creating more revenue for those corporations in the future.

Oh, snap.

Shale *was* revealed at least a month before DA:O release. It was a true "free bonus", because Stone Prisoner was included with every new copy (excluding regular edition in Russia).

Absolutely nothing is known about DA2 bonus character, and it's less then 20 days till it stops being an extra and starts being 20$ DLC. I want more information.

About the $60 thing, prices are not standardized where I live, but it appears to be that there are plenty of rebates where you can order the game for $45-50 anyway.

The Bahhumbug promo code still works in the American Direct2Drive website, lowering the price to $45.

-Develop a full game

-Take parts that are ready to retail and give them only to people who preorder

-Market as bonus content

This is a dishonest and sleazy way to sell products. I mean yes, you don't pay any different and it is the company's perogative to decide what is sold and included in the product but trying to trick the customer really?
