I really wish this thread was editted to make it more streamlined and organized. I also wish would could collect information and private message the author of the thread, so he can edit his original post with new information as it is unveiled. He has not said that he would if we were to.



I tried to make an organized thread for that very reason titled "Secret Companion Discussion Thread", and Chris Priestly locked it. I think that was unfair and unjustified. My topic was distinct, and it would have allowed people to access organized and neat information. I would have posted new information as it came to me. I honestly think less of Chris Priestly now for it. I do appreciate everything he has given until then and everything everone else has given. I was trying to be helpful, and I was thrown aside.



I may sound like a whining troll, but at least this will be the last time I openly complain about it. I don't tend to hold onto anything emotionally for very long.

If they are going to reveal somthing their cutting it close it's the 5th of Jan today in UK and the offer on the signature edition ends on the 11th

This is abit odd admittingly, bidding on someone you have no clue about, but on the otherhand, 99% of bioware's mainstream games have had awesome companions (ashley from me1 being the 1% for boring story telling, racist, cross eyed b@tch, valena almoooost made it 98%) least odds are good the mystery companion will be interesting

Leliana I think. She is the only one in every chioce i made returned home at some point in time and she is the only one who knows the people from lothering. If the game starts off with a fire and the burning of lothering then it makes sense to have it be her. She would be thier either way if you decieded to take her along or let her she would be thier to mourn her lost friends in lotherings fire.

If you know you're going to get the game on release day, you might as well buy the "free" upgrade. For those of us still uncertain we want to pay full price, not knowing enough about the game let alone about the incentive doesn't make it much of an incentive.

If they reveal this then it'll probably be on Friday (which tends to be when they do reveals these days), which will be just in time to get all the fence-sitters buzzing and buying before the deadline hits (i.e. "OMG OMG must get this awesome char now or they will be lost!")



I already pre-ordered anyway.

I imagine we'll see something then,  unless of course the character isn't finished yet.  Which I doubt...   the other possibility is the character is Sandal,  and Bioware fears revealing that would result in the number of preorders going down...  instead of epically up like it would.

Looking at the silhoutte the character seems to have a warhammer (which does make some sense now, with all those (actually some ) unique weapons for the partymembers...) or a quiver on the back, I think she's gonna be female as well...

Logically I would have expected them to do a reveal on the dlc character before the deadline. Because the reveal will get picked up by gaming websites. And it is a final bit of free widespread publicity to encourage people to pre-order.

I am not sure what marketing benefits there are for holding back the reveal beyond the deadline.

Unless the idea and unquantifiable value of a unknown dlc character is more effective than revealing an actual character. Which could allow a certain percentage of fans to decide he/she is too ugly or boring.

It would be nice for some information beforehand but then again, if the character turns out to be someone you dislike it shouldn't matter since it's free.



I mean, we all like different characters so some might like him/her/it and some might not. Does it really matter if it's free? Just don't use them. Let them get dusty in a corner.



Now if we had to pay extra for the unknown companion, that would be a completely different story.

I'm starting to feel like i've reverted back into a little kid version of myself, the one who peeked at all her Christmas presents. I have the urge to want to know everything about the game before I get it but deep down I know it will ruin a bit of the magic of the first play through. I want everything shiny and new damn it. So no I don't really think they need to release anything I've already preordered and I'm getting a Collectors edition for the price of the regular edition I'm not about to look a gift horse in the mouth. I'm just going to say thank you and wait patiently for a new podcast.
