My enemies get smarter (I like that) as I change up to hardcore, but my team peeps stay dumb. Enemies get better and better aim, until they can shoot as well as I do! but my team has NO marksmen at all......
I suppose that this is design, and that I need to control them more. I don't like babysitting them though. Stand here, move here, use this power now. Zzz. Pull your own weight or GTFO my squad, punks.
Aside from that, what is the deal with the ammunition? Every shot is precious. It gets old having to use 2 or 3 weapons worth of ammo. I hate having to scrounge ammunition or always being low.

I never said there are no people like that, I said that if he judges people based on them playing on Insanity then he is no different then those who is condescending due to others not playing on Insanity. Thankfully both types are rather rare on these forums.RiouHotaru wrote...

But at the same time, people always go on about how easy Insanity can be and honestly I don't see that. Or when I ask about Builds but then say I'm not playing on Insanity and people just scoff and ignore my questions about build because "it doesn't matter unless you're on Insanity". It works both ways

I'm with sinosleep in being incredulous in regards to this last statement. I was always under the impression that, while the participants of the strategy forum were predominantly insanity difficulty players, they never turn down the opportunity to discuss strategy with those who play on easier difficulties. The only thing I could possibly fault the regulars for would be the assumption that anyone who asks a question in the strategy forum is playing on insanity difficulty. It's an assumption I can understand them making and easily rectified with a simple comment that you, like, don't play that way.RiouHotaru wrote...

I played the game on casual when I was repeating the suicide mission ad nauseam. That was fun. But the game was designed around the normal difficulty setting. Powers are too powerful on casual and gimped when played on hardcore/insanity. That makes combat a nonissue on one hand and a different sort of challenge on the other, so it's not a bad thing. But the game was meant to be experienced at least once on a normal setting, I think.

I don't see what was all that hard about the Suicide Mission. Horizon gave me more trouble because I was forced into it before getting my upgrades. That and the Cain plus Assault Armor and bringing Miranada(Crippling Slam) plus Samara(Area Reave for the Area Stun) makes things too easy.
Also, I learned that Even Level1 Throw can one hit certian enemies such as Husks. It's short cooldown only served to make the destruction better. Break shields than use Throw and they bounce around than die even with full health.

In fact, I think some companions or classes are best-played at lower difficulties from a roleplaying/story perspective; for instance, some skills are virtually useless at insanity dealing with shielded etc. opponents. It would be nice, if it were my preferred class/companion/skill, to play through lifting and throwing opponents with gleeful abandon. If I do an adept playthrough, I may well do so on a lower difficulty level for much that reason, it may be (for me) a better roleplaying experience (i.e. using biotics but very limited weapon use or whatever).
In ME2 my preferred class (I haven't played through or even a significant amount of the game with all classes) is infiltrator with the bonus dominate power (2nd favourite engineer). But is that because I like playing on insanity and those classes have skills that are still useful on insanity? Perhaps if I played on "normal" my favourite class might be sentinel or adept, as I had preferred in ME1. Maybe if opponents weren't so deadly close-up I'd have more fun with vanguards.
Hmm, now I'm thinking I should try a normal or maybe hardcore run-through with an adept or vanguard...

I play most games like that, very few will I bump up the difficulty - I don't want to be "challenged" (most of what folks say is "challenging" I find to be frustrating) I want to have a good time with the game.
More power to folks who play on higher difficulties, it isn't for me though.

Hardcore, although I'm moving up to Insanity on my next playthrough as HC is getting slightly too easy at times.
I agree, but I want to run through HC as an Adept first. Right now I am doing it as a Soldier - and its a lot of fun.

That and Area Reave abuse just isn't fair how good it is. The stun effect is great and it can force your enemies to stick their heads out as they whether in pain.
Also, even on Insanity the Cain can practically one hit the last boss who turns out to be less threatening than a pair of Scion's.

I agree with Pacifen and Sinosleep. I haven't seen anyone look down their noses about questions concerning difficulty levels. People in here answer questions and assist eachother.
I am amazed at the amount of Insanity players. Sometimes I feel intimidated by players who have played through every class on Insanity as both Renegade and Paragon, and persued all Love Interests possible, scanned every planet, and done every achievement in the book and made up a few of their own. I know my game isn't that good (yet).
Perhaps from that standpoint you might feel like they look down their noses at 'Casual' players. Thats not the truth though. This a game that they enjoy - that they have Passion for. They are really good at the game because they enjoy playing - and they bring that knowledge and experience to the table to share with us all.
These Forums also grant access to some extremely helpful threads. I'm not just talking about threads written by pimply 15 year old kids (No offense if there are any reading this) who are good at the game - but developers and testers and guide writers. The information is here to take your game to whatever level you want to.

Veteran is my basic play, just a bit more challenging and the enemies are tougher, but not so heavily buffed that they dominate. Insanity - tried it, failed, never went back... I am just not that good and don't want to deal with the high level of frustration to get good enough. From time to time I try a mission on hardcore but never the whole game.

I only do Insanity for the acheevo or when I'm really bored and want a challenge. If I want to speed up and get to the cutscenes and story elements I play on casual.

Currently, I play on Veteran and consider some parts quite tricky (ME1:the Krogan when recruiting Liara, ME2: Scions...) but the overall difficulty isn't too hard.
I think I'll switch to Hardcore, Insanity is a bit.. Insane.

Hardcore mostly, Insanity isn't fun for me, I have nothing to prove. Having your assault rifles shoot spitballs and your warp explosions feel like butterfly kisses on your enemies is pretty annoying, especially when they take your shields out with 2 bullets.
Ditto for me too. I stick to Hardcore, which is enough of a challenge for me.

Since my first play through was on hardcore and I had improved enough by the end, insanity doesn't feel any tougher to my initial impression of hard core. NG+insanity feels a bit harder until a few upgrades happen. My first mission instead of Mordin in this NG+ was Kasumi's loyalty quest, and I got to say those Ymirs took effing forever to take down. Now all of them were in places where they never were a threat, but they could take a beating. But a little past horizon and I'm feelin g pretty good by then.

I'm slightly different to you, but we both enjoy our ways of playing. I don't try to improve my game for the sake of showing off - I'm 28 yrs old- I got nothing to prove to anyone except for myself. There is no one there to see me there gaming. I just myself enjoy challenge and therefore I try to get better all the time and trying the impossible.
I do not care what difficulty people play with - I only play for myself - the way I most enjoy it.
