Oh, yeah, and I understand that (edit: what you're saying/what the writers are unhappy about, not the elf kink bit) completely. I'm not trying to argue, persay, but more to point out that not everyone is coming from the same place. So to discount it all equally is a little unfair/ intellectually dishonest, and using a straw man. I love human LI, enjoy exploring all LI options usually, but it's really based on personality of PC and personality of LI and how they go together.Maria Caliban wrote...
I'll point out here that some of the people asking for elven love interests were on the DA boards before DA:O even came out asking for elven love interests. They're a bit like the fantasy equivalent of men who have a thing for Asian women because they're supposedly feminine and submissive.
It has nothing to do with cultural conflicts in the setting and everything to do with a specific personal preference.
I'm not saying that you're this way, but there is a specific group of posters are adamant that they *cannot* enjoy a romance with humans and that they only way they could be happy is if the love interest is of a specific race. I understand the writers not being happy with that.
One of my favorite quotes: "To argue against an idea honestly, you should argue against the best arguments of the strongest advocates. Arguing against weaker advocates proves nothing, because even the strongest idea will attract weak advocates."
This is it, exactly.Collider wrote...
Love interests being another race does not inherently make them more interesting.
It's how you use the fact that they're not human.
