I doubt Isabela would want any plot holes affecting her ship

Holes and ships are bad.

Aveline frequently attempts to lift and benchpress things. It's one of the reasons her idle animation when Varric is in the party is so funny.

Wait... Are you saying she tries to bench press Varric?

This woman is suddenly and increasingly amazing.

Aveline doesn't understand how anyone could find elves attractive but totally gets the appeal of dwarves. That said, she sticks to humans.

Now I have the image of Aveline bench pressing Varric stuck in my head.

I once wrote out a small comic strip about this when I first heard about Aveline bechpressing cows but sadly my drawing abilities are not up to par.

Isabela is written by Sheryl, and Aveline is written by Lukas.

Additional info: Sheryl did Leliana and Isabela in DA:O. Lukus did Jacob in ME 2.

That's Bethany. Isabela is the pirate.

And it's one L.

God. With so many amazing characters released on the table... Varric, Aveline, Fenris, Isabela, and even more to come, Its going to be very, very, very difficult to prefer one over the other, let alone try to stick with romancing one.

God. I'm just going to be a Camp****. I will be known as The Heroine of Kirkwall & The Tramp of Kirkwall, depending on who you ask and which legend sustains.

I suspect Isabela may race you for it.

She has a girl in every port and a port in every girl.

Then I think I found my LI.

We'll be like those two Velociraptors from Jurassic Park. Working together and tearing down each team member with careful hedonistic precision.

Meh. My character is going to name his right hand 'Bethany' and soldier on. Seriously, she's the only character model worth looking at.

Unless, of course, Aveline and Isabela actually have "unique and sparkling personalities", in which case I'm willing to try. But only a little.

I read through all 16 pages of this. I worry about myself sometimes. Anyhoo...

Regarding Aveline as Jaheira: If she is, I wouldn't view the comparison as derogatory. Jaheira, keep in mind, was a much more time-consuming, thoughtful romance than Aerie's, and to some extent, Viconia's. She also frequently spent time trying to come to grips with Khalid's death and her feelings for the PC. If anything, I thought the romance was too hard to advance-- you'd run out of game before Jaheira would go totally mushy for ya.

I'm more into Isabela at the moment, because she seems more free-form and creative. I also like characters with ambiguous or flawed, but not broken, moral compasses. Aveline strikes me as a disciplined, over-zealous Type A personality. Maybe that'll change once I actually get to know them in-game, but those are my initial impressions.

I wouldn't mind a female elf LI though, and before we rehash the argument Gaider had with others, let me point out that each race in DA carries with it very distinctive cultural baggage. An elf, city or Dalish, is implied to have distinctive history and perspective on human society and Thedas in general. I actually liked Velanna in Awakenings for those very reasons, though like the rest of the expansion, she was a little rushed and over-the-top. And yeah, elves do tend to be pretty hot. I won't pretend that appearance isn't a factor in LIs, virtual or real.

On the other hand, someone can possess such a different culture that romanceability seems implausible... The Qunari strike me that way. Their belief systems are so different that I feel like you'd have to dismantle what makes them interesting to make them romanceable. Love doesn't really even flourish in their society to begin with, IIRC, because even family and reproduction are tightly controlled and collectivistic.

Lastly, I'm optimistic that, even if there are only a few LIs, the F/R system will spice them up. Romancing Isabela as a paladin, in all but name, should be interesting, if possible, and very different from being a kindred criminal.

Heehee, well, I just want Isabela.  I will weep strong womanly tears if she isn't an f/f LI.

If you're messing around in a bush and it isn't hardcore, you're doing it wrong.
