Yeah, uncomfortable.

You are not interested in Isabela?:o

Mostly disinterested...

scratch that, I need to be honest...

this is the first character I've ever considered KILLING, especially before playing the game.

I got CLOSE with thinking "is there a way I can let Thane and Jack die in the game, on purpose" before getting to know them...
but my first-impression dislike of those two, combined times ten, doesn't equal my negative feelings toward Isabela.

For those who are interested in her, I just assign you into a similar group in my mind as those who like country music or rap, or who love FPS shooter multi-player or GTA games  - people whose tastes are clearly not my own, and they are more than welcome to enjoy their own interests, but I don't understand them and certainly don't share them.

Isabela may surprise me (I was really wrong about Thane and Jack, which is why I brought them up), and if any game designers could surprise me, it'd be Obsidian... er, heh-heh... I mean BioWare has talented writers who could probably make me like her despite myself...

but as of right now I have a strong, visceral and, yes, largely irrational dislike of her that goes miles and miles beyond her physical appearance not being in my range of what I consider attractive.

Yes + infinity +1
No just no
Yes. Ohhhh yes.
nope
Sigrun is the worst companion i've ever met in a bioware game.
I take it you haven't played DAO then? It's got Morrigan, Leliana and WynneImage IPB
Wynned and Morrigan were awesome,
Sigrun had no intresting attributes of personality. She's about as memorable as Mharai
Wynne was a Nag (no not a Nug 'cause then she'd be awesome) and Morrigan was a b!tch. At least Sigrun had a personnality to ignore as opposed too those 2d stereotypes from DAO.
Sigrun was lots of fun...funniest companion in Awakening..but ANders came close too...so Sigrun and ANders were the only ones i cared in Awakening..but i also like Leliana and Morrigan

If I think about it, the only female I'd be vaguely interested in would be femHawke atm. And that's kinda not likely to happen.

This, or Bethany.

You know what'd be an interesting feature?  Letting the player control all the party members (even if you don't get to create them) so you could romance Bethany with, say, Varric ... or romance femHawke with Fenris.

Now THAT'D be something I'd be excited to try.

Morrigan was only a B if you were a goody two shoes and Wynne was only a nag if you were evil, i don't know how you pissed both of them off.

The only time I pissed either or both off was when I did on purpose, and that's when I play a mage otherwise, I'm stuck with at least one depending on the ending I want to go for. Which actually made it worse, at least Sigrun had a decent alternative.

But that's despite the point because Sigrun has the most Bland Morality of any companion she's just good nothing more to it. Atleast i didn't know what Morrigan or Wynne were going to say before they said it.

You're kidding right? Both Morrigan and Wynne were as predictable as the tides.

No problem with Aveline if they don´t take the "comforting the widow" route. With Isabella, I don´t know. So far I can´t take her seriously with that clothing, and her personality in Origins was fun but not interesting for a romance for me.

Neither. But then in my main playthrough of DA:O, I did no romances either. So I wouldn't be surprised if I go through DAII without any.

You predicted the dark ritual or Killing Morrigans mother?
Or that wynne was inhabited by a spirit?

Sigrun was absolutley nothing
She was a dwarf without personality, Her jokes were worse than Oghrens.

I always play goody-two-shoes and still Morrigan liked me. Well maybe because you could easily ship around the cliffs of the approval system after the first playthrough. Anyway, I couldn't know how a character can be alot deeper than Morrigan. She is evil in a way and at the same time she isn't. That's quite something that impressed me because she was exactly not easy to figure out. Don't tell me that Leliana or Wynne were less predictable than Morrigan. I even disliked Morrigan at first, she only grew on me after several playthroughs. If that's not a sign for a deep character (a character that can actually change your opinion as in opposite to a character that who's opinion you can change) seems quite deep for me.

My reaction to Isabela has been "eye-roll" so far, so I'm not that interested. That being said, I am nonetheless open to the possibility of liking her character more than I do now.

Now, my interest was piqued when I read the character description for Aveline, so I think it's far more likely I'll be romancing her.

Or  I might romance no one, and simply be an overprotective big brother to Bethany with no time for mushy stuff.

Those are plot devices not character traits. Neither really have much to do with their personalities.

You mean a self-loathing castless who betrayed the one person that ever put any fiath in her and is determined to make up for it and prove she's not just trash?

See, I had the exact opposite reaction you did, on the first play through I liked Morrigan, Leliana and Wynne well enough but got tired and started disliking them afterwords.

Neither, I'm hoping Fenris will be a s/s romance option for males (Varric hopefully NOT).

Aveline, while she looks like a good character, she definitely doesn't cut it for my Hawke, at least male Hawke. FemHawke, on the other hand, may go great with her.

Isabela will probably be a romance option on ONE of my playthroughs, but not my main playthrough at least unless they improve her appearance (namely, she needs fuller, bigger lips). Then again, either of the two ladies may surprise me. I'd take Isabela over Aveline simply because she's more fun and probably an awesome companion, attractive or not.

(Still hopes for another female character that's more attractive and not a blood relative...we should be getting at least one more male and one more female plus DLC, we still need a human male companion that's not your brother and we're likely getting an elven lady-hopefully a pretty blonde like Iona).

My first playthrough of Origins--as a male warden--involved no romance. He was completely obsessive about the blight and avenging his family. It wasn't until the second playthrough as a female warden, who was completely bowled over by Alistair, that I realized just how well written and immersive the DA romances were.

Even though I'm not seeing a character that makes me think my character will be as drawn to them as my PC was to Alistair, it's impossible to know until they start talking.

Even though the only one I'm thinking of romancing is Fenris, I really really hope he is not s/s because then he would just be that much closer to a Zevran clone.

I'm not strictly disliking any of the characters introduced so far, but I am disliking the notion of having a romance written for any of them. Not one of them is very attractive in that regard, and some of them are genuinely kind of a turn off in that regard.

Same-sex.

EDIT: I also hope Fenris isn't the s/s male romance, they already did it with Zevran. Although it's a pretty safe bet Isabella is the s/s female romance, unless she only swings both ways on occasion.

From Aveline's description I get more down-to-earth character vibes than I do Isabela's. With Isabela it's all yeah-yeah-purebred badassery-confident-attractive-badass-i-can-turn-heads-and-slice-'em-off-too and she seems so been there done that. May this impression change.

Exactly, gender is a psychological trait not a physical one, that she's a walking pile of rubble doesn't change the fact that she's a woman

May be so, I still don't want a rock in my bedroll.

Not feeling Isabella. That might change though. I'm actually a bit curious about Aveline so I'll see how that goes. In reality I'm hoping the last companion will be Valenna and if by any cosmic force that wish comes true, well... No need for those two I suppose.

Shale's like a fat chick; just because she's more fun than the other girls doesn't mean you actually want to bed her. Never mind being fool enough to let her go topsiesImage IPB
