Poll here: http://social.biowar...46/polls/13244/

Now, don't get me wrong, I like all the classes, they each have their strengths and weaknesses.  I'm just wondering which one you found the least fun to play.

For me personally?  The Soldier.  It was the same problem I had back in ME2, even with bonus powers, the Soldier felt incredibly static.  No abilities outside of one or two powers you pretty much used CONSTANTLY.  In ME1 it was Immunity and Adrenaline Rush.  In ME2, It's...still Adrenaline Rush, possibly concussive shot.  Having ALL the ammo powers is a nice touch, but I liked having more options.

Admittedly, the Soldier being the only class to get the Revenant is nice, but it doesn't quite compensate for pretty much not being able to do anything.  Felt incredibly one-trick.

What do you guys think?

EDIT: Interesting that Soldier and Engineer are considered the least favorite among those here on the forums.  Yes, I am aware that game statistics-wise, the Solider is the MOST favorite class, but I wasn't looking to crunch numbers and graph data.  I'm more just curious as to personal preferences.

I think if you want more objective results that you shouldn't tell people your choice before they go take the poll.

I agree with Soldier. Played up until Horizon with it and just really didn't like it.

Having a hard time deciding between sentinel and soldier. Probably soldier (I like powers (non-ammo ones)).

I'm with the OP, Soldier is my least favorite class. AR is awesome power, but the only one used - I usually get bored after a couple of missions. It took some time before I completed my Soldier run. Had more fun playing the other classes, having more powers is more options is more fun for me.

Soldier is a total snooze-fest but iirc it is by far the most played class of all based on Bioware's statistics.

Likely because it makes people feel like they're playing a shooter.

Eh in RPGs fighter is one of the most popular classes if not the most popular.  People like the idea of being a bad ass just by being a bad ass, no fancy powers, just a plain old bad ass.  Me I like the fancy powers, I want to be a bad ass with bling.

So for me its soldier, also I suspect if this was a dificulty level based poll the results would change quite a bit as well.  A lot of people on these boards are upset about adpet on insanity for exmaple, me I like it that way but everyone is different.

I got bored of soldier pretty fast and was never practically fond of engineer tho I haven’t given them much of a chance and will need to do a proper playthrough of one eventually.

For now I’ll pick Solider. It’s not bad, it’s simply not as interesting as the others.

Sentinel bored me to tears. When you don't have to worry about staying alive, the game becomes easy to the point of being almost insulting. About to die? Tech Armor. Tech Armor breaks? It gives you half your shields back, just mosey on into cover for a couple of seconds, then pop Tech Armor again. All problems are solved with Tech Armor. Being overpowered means being boring. Just look at Superman.

Tried playing Soldier again recently and about 2 or 3 missions in I really started to miss having powers to cast, got to Horizon and quit 'cause 1) It was boring JUST shooting things and 2) I realized there's hardly any versatility with Soldier.

Max AR, passive, Cryo, Disruptor and Incendiary Ammo and you're pretty much done, no need for Concussive (which is pitiful on Shep) or a bonus power. Versatility is what makes the other classes great which Soldier definitely lacks.

Sentinel felt like a true 'jack of all trades' class especially after I'd already played Engineer and Adept which I really enjoyed and so never really got round to finishing a Sentinel run either 'cause the tech/biotic combo wasn't doing it for me.

Low level engineer is probably my least favorite. I know I made the shotgun engineer thread and all, but I can't lie, running around spammin Droid and lvl 1 overload is AWFUL. At least with the soldier you can get a pretty good idea of your future self by simply maxing out adrenaline rush.

Soldier. It doesn't feel like a soldier as much as some movie director's idea of a soldier.

Currently playing Engineer, that Combat Drone is spamalicious. A 3 second cooldown makes that ability so broken and imbalanced.

Am I the only one who sees the variability of the Soldier class? Centering your entire playstyle around a weapon with additional weapons to back it up isn't something other classes can do really well.

I find the soldier class boring, to be honest.

That depends what kind of weapon set up you use, Assault Rifles and Snipers at the beginning of the game? Honestly why bother with the shotgun when you already have access to those two. Soldier just feels too easy for me, I understand it is the 'default shooter' class but it's honestly why I don't play the game.

Starting off with less weapons but being able to mix it up with a range of powers in combat  is what makes the game fun for me and having to learn the strengths and weaknesses of each class creates a bit of variety. The Soldier has no real weakness to speak of in my mind which ironically I consider a 'weakness' and therefore why I got bored playing it.

It's just the bandwagon effect ScroguBlitzen was predicting in the 2nd post.

The soldier has plenty of variability, depending on the weapons (esp. bonus weapon), ammo powers, AR-type, passive-type and bonus power chosen. A Squad Cyro, Hardened AR Shock Trooper w. Revenant & Flashbangs handles totally different from say, a Squad Incendiary, Heightened AR Commando w. Widow & Tungsten Ammo.

sentinel... because in this game sentinels are just so close to being perfect, yet they lack ammo powers... is like being shown what heavens look like only to be told is for vip's only.....ugh so infuriating.

I do!  The Soldier is probably my favorite class.  You have a thrilling quantity of ways to bring dudes down, which I love.  Sure, may not be as dastardly efficient as Mattock, but it's way more enjoyable that way.  I like bringing that Swiss Army Knife or App Store feel to the Soldier.  Long range?  Well, there's a weapon for that.  Mid-range? Well, there's a weapon for that too.  Close quarters?  Yep, a weapon for that as well.

My least favorite was probably the Engineer.  I could never get far enough in the game where it becomes much improved.

with hex editing and other types, the Sentinel is just 1 tiny little hair away from being the perfect soldier.

All we need is for incendiary and disruptor ammo to become bonus powers..... god why couldn't disruptor ammo had been zaeed's bonus power.

Right now my sentinel sits tight awaiting for a miracle from bioware to send a bonus power that works like disruptor... or maybe a new ammo power that when evolved can be chosen to be either like disruptor or incendiary.

Sentinel: lv 30

All maxed.
replaced cryo with reaver
added tugsten ammo
added squad warp

just need that shield shreder type of ammo...

weapons:
first smg
Mattock
Viper
Geth plasma shotgun
blackstorm

god so close so close.... SOME GEEK PLEASE UNLOCK a way to add any power to any class, i give you my word I will freacking send you 20 bucks if you do!!!!.

Love shooting stuff, so soldier and vanguard are favorites. I could not get into sentinal at all, and engineer wasn't that fun ( even though I am an engineer 4 real ).

Toss up between engineer and sentinel. Adept is fun as long as its not on insanity or hardcore. The shield busting kind of kills the joy of tossing enemies around the battlefield like your harry portapotty.

Otherwise VG and Soldier by far are my favs
