I play on Insanity only, and from least to most liked.

Soldier
Sentinel, Engineer
Adept, Infiltrator
Vanguard

Soldier's are just boring to me, they lack that "wow" ability. Adrenaline Rush doesn't really bring much excitement from my own experience.

For whatever reason I stink with a Sentinel. Yeah I know, how do you stink with a Sentinel, but I just can't stand them early game -- plus the way Combat Armor looks is annoying to me. Although I do want to experiment with cryo blast. Deep Cryo an enemy use it as cover until next enemy is stripped cryo him or set up a warp bomb while hiding behind your frozen meat shield. I would try it with a shogun engineer, but I think Combat Armor would give more room for error if the frozen enemy got tipped over or other variables. As for the Engineer, I have just never given the class a fair chance. I always say okay, today is the day I'm going to make a shotgun Engineer it never happens though.

Adept and Infiltrator are just fun. The Adept with the Mattock and biotic combos is quiet deadly and satisfying to play, you can really blow up anything in your path. For the Infiltrator who doesn't like to go invisible, or channel their inner James Bond? Infiltrator is a great class, so many ways you can play it, it is really hard to get bored playing one.

Vanguard is my favorite because, I enjoy the fast paced combat of the class, the versatility, shotguns, and my own familiarity with the class. It was my first insanity playthrough, so the class has a special place in my heart.

Soldier is the only class I didn't beat ME1 with. It'll be the same for ME2. I just don't see the appeal.

Soldier is just plain snoze mode, no effort required. Engineers are lacking (it just has nothing to get the blood pumping whatsoever). Adepts are fun, but no where near as enjoyable as ME1... still my number 1 pick. Vanguards a bit hot and cold for me, just a tad to narrow. Basically ME2s classes lack variety in builds, multiple builds that are truly different (within each class) imho.

Vanguard, by far. Never liked CQC, I rather prefer to stay at range and keep a good overview and control of the battlefield. Also they feel far to gimmicky to me.

I love ME2 soldier, but hated ME1 soldier. It made insanity so stupidly easy it's ridiculous.

Overall, I think Sentinel is the worst. I never really used the tech armor on my Sentinel playthrough

What are you smoking, Sentinel is the best, Soldier is the worst.

Sentinel is the only class that allows you to "manually recharge your shields at will".

If you believe a Soldier makes ME1's Insanity a joke. Go and toss Singularity on a Vanguard. You will virtually never get shot and especially not if you run with any of the biotic squad mates.

I play as Adept, i think the Adept was massively weakend in ME2 compared to ME1, one of my friends watched me kill Sauran very quickly on the hardest difficulty with ease, while he had a little more trouble as a soldier, i think the balance system should be thrown out the window for ME3 and everyone should realise that an Adept(biotic) will win every time when against a soldier, its the whole mage vs warrior.... mage will always win if the game isn't balanced, the hardest guys to kill in ME are the ones with some form of biotic powers.

no offense but your fanboyism over the Adept is quite hilarious.

From the logical standpoint(and ME 1 standards) a Vangaurd Should easily kill an Adept considering that vangaurds are Adept+Soldier they have better armor and better weapons training a

Sentinel might need to put up a slightly harder fight against an Adept but should win given it's Tech+Adept and can overheat the adepts weapons take away it's Shielding and still fight Bio on Bio with relatively equal powers

infiltrators would be able to outrange an Adept, Disable it's Defenses, Disable it's weapons and Damp it's powers rendering it entirely useless before it can pose any threat to the Infil.(could be my fanboism here but when you thin about the ability to Overload Sabotage and Damp  + Superior Range that's pretty much it for any Biotic Wielding Warrior)

Engineers are easily beatable by adepts i'm sure

Soldiers is difficult because they have more durability better weapons training and better armor proficiency so it could divulge into a slugging match but the Soldier will probably loose in the end.

While I agree that I didn't quite get how an Adept will somehow defeat a fully armed cybernetically-enhanced super soldier just by virtue of being a biotic, responding to the guy's assertions with a barrage of comical 'my class is harder than your class' ravings doesn't really paint your point in the best light.

Tried playing Soldier again recently and about 2 or 3 missions in I really started to miss having powers to cast, got to Horizon and quit 'cause 1) It was boring JUST shooting things and 2) I realized there's hardly any versatility with Soldier.

Am I the only one who sees the variability of the Soldier class? Centering your entire playstyle around a weapon with additional weapons to back it up isn't something other classes can do really well.

I'm with you I love solider , I think the way ppl play it makes the class boring I always max out to Harden A.R. with
maxed out Inferno ammo, squad cryo , 2pts on disrupter ammo and Commando , with bns. pwr Reave and main gun the Rev. and I play it like a vanguard , I hit AR and run up on the enemy and when I close in enough a cpl of quick punches to the face and thats all she wrote , of course you have to plan so I strip shields at a distance then begin the assult , but Van. and Sol. are my to fav . and my least would have to be Eng. and Infiltrator, I'm not a big fan of snipping

I've played through, from start to finish, more as a Soldier then the other classes (got over ~95% of my achievements including Insanity as a soldier), and Concussive Shot very quickly got zero points after my first completion.

There should have been an achievement, The McClane Way, (aka The Hard Way): kill 30 enemies with Concussive Shot, that would have been fun :P.

Then again I'm on 360 and did not like bringing up the power wheel so often in combat, it was enough with switching between weapons, I mostly stayed with the Assault and Sniper Rifles and quick swapping between the two.

Also, I'd offer that the poll should be split between the Console and PC to get a better perspective on player's preferences, since it seems PC hotkeys give more control to the player without bring up the power wheel so often, which could skew class preferences, among other differences between the two versions.

talking about ME1, over around 40 playthroughs i mixed around only with the 3 biotic classes. i never played more then eden prime with a non-biotic. i just didnt see the point. of the 3 ME1 biotic classes, the vangaurd was my favorite. great defense, top teir pistol, adrenalin rush, and nothing less then an adept other then bastion stasis, which the vangaurd never needed another ability anyways.

ME2 is a different story tho. i know i dont like the adept as much as the former. when im playing an adept i have to talk myself into enjoying the gameplay. adepts suufer alot by starting with crappy weapons. if the games suppsoed to mainly revolve around gunplay, like so many people on here claim, then why is my adepts only somewhat weapon training consists of a pistol and SMG? its not like the adepts abilities are better then the vangaurds or infiltrators, but i still dont get their weapons.

Sentinel sucks. They say it's versatile, but it's a push-over in combat and specializes in neither biotic or tech, but rather a little of both. You'll always have to be lugging around 2 combat-heavy squadmates to do your fighting.

And in ME2 its exclusive power is some armor/shield that is super high-tech because it explodes when it gets destroyed.

I prefer soldier because it actually has weapon variety. I change weapons practically every clip, and seeing as Garrus's recruitment is pretty much the only mission in the game with design beyond "Kill this wave and keep moving forward," it adds some of the variety the gameplay desperately needs. Even with the Vanguard's abilities, I got tired of unloading whole submachine gun magazines between powers.

Tried Infiltrator, got bored way too fast.

If there was synergy between Incinerate and Cryo Blast, then I think I would like the class a lot more.

There is.  Take Incineration Blast + Full Cryo Blast to the Collector Ship.  Incinerate gets rid of husk armor, Cryo kills them.  For extra lulz, take Mordin along with the same spec; one can cast Incinerate and the other can cast Cryo right after.

Engineer is for those who get a kick out of creating mass panic and confusion on the battlefield.

I'm going to rank classes by entertainment value.
1. Vanguard.  Nothing beats crossing the battlefield and shooting someone in the face.
2. Engineer.  Aforementioned mass panic and confusion.  Extra fun if you take Dominate as your bonus power to get the organics shooting one another while you sit back and drink beer, or Flashbang to shut down their weapons, or take someone else with Combat Drone (especially Legion) along.
3. Sentinel.  You can't die.  You want people to attack you so your tech armor explodes.  How awesome is that?
4. Infiltrator.  "They couldn't hit an elephant at this dist-"
5. Adept ON Veteran and below.  Nothing beats setting up a shockwave at
the top of the stairwells on the Derelict Reaper and creating "husk
washing machines."  Having them armored/etc. can be dealt with but takes
away from the enjoyment.
6. Soldier.  Sorry, I really think the powers make the game fun.  Adrenaline Rush is nice and all but it's not the same.

I don't like soldiers on principle, along with vanguards. There is always another way aside from shooting stuff. The one thing that I really long for is a clever way to beat the game, not the crude and violent one.
