The demo had a lot of graphical issues for me, the same tearing others have seen but also a lot of popping triangle artifacts; like the tearing but in awkward triangle form. Meanwhile the Dead Space 2 demo looked beautiful, so I have a hard time thinking it's my console. I really hope this doesn't happen to me in the full version.

i tried the demo out, just to at least give them a chance and to see for myself if the comparisons were accurate.

things i noticed while playing the demo:

- awful screen tearing

- FPS drops and stuttering during cutscenes, which was exactly what the problem was with dragon age. very disappointed that they made the exact same mistake.

- the screenshot comparisons on lens of truth/neogaf/gameblurb are 100% accurate - the PS3 version looks like garbage.

there is no excuse for this nonsense. PS3 gamers should boycott bioware altogether.

and the dead space 2 demo? absolutely beautiful. visceral clearly knows what they're doing.

The Dead Space 2 Demo was great! Dead Space 2 is 10x better than the 1st one. and the demo was flawless.
I cant believe Bioware made such a bad demo for ME2 on PS3.
(P.S. it crashed on me in the demo on the PS3. that Never has happened on 360.)

I never encountered screen tearing, FPS drops (infact, my FPS was higher then the PC version) or those horrible screenshots. I have looked at those comparisons on 'GameBlurb' and my PS3 demo did NOT look like that. The people there either smashed their PS3 with a hammer or faked the images. Considering I've never heard of them, I'm leaning towards not-accurate.

For all the nay-sayers, please list what version of PS3 you played on. I'm currently running my discontinued day-one 60gb Chromelined PS3, and I will happily admit it was far superior to what I played on PC. The only issues I encountered were some sound problems in Mordins recruitment. And some bad compression, but that was due to my low resolution TV.

This makes me wonder, so for the ones complaining about all the screen tearing and poor graphics, list your PS3's specs. Let's sort this out.

Are you smoking crack mate?.

The problems with the PS3 demo are clearly obvious, and as far as saying it plays equal to or better than the PC version, then it must be pretty strong stuff.

you may not have been paying close attention.  screen tearing and FPS drops/stuttering in the cutscenes are pretty apparent (i'm not the only one to report seeing those issues).

the screenshot comparisons are in fact accurate, everything from the lighting to the level of detail in shepard's skin.

i have an 80gb, non-BC PS3.  and it shouldn't matter which revision you have since the demo runs off of the HDD to begin with.

btw, what type of TV are you looking at? define "low resolution."

I have ME2 already on the 360, be decided to try the demo on my PS3. And imo, the game does look too dark, and overall doesn't look as sharp as it does on the 360. Hope that it's the the demo, and not what the final version will look like.

Just finished the PS3 demo and noticed the characters faces looked a little crisper.  The environment was sharper in detail.  The characters faces are missing details, such as facial hair, dirt, wrinkles, ect.   If the Mass effect 3 engine was used to create this game I am not impressed.  Not really that different from the Xbox version with the Mass effect 3 engine. The cell processor is very powerful and the programmers are not using it properly.  I hope the final version will be fixed or better than this demo.

PC and PS3 players will suffer, Microsoft with the Xbox 360 is holding back the true potential. aka "Watering down" these games. Plus Bioware has to fit all the data onto 1-4 disks.

I have a HW-BC PS3 upgraded with a 160GB 7200RPM HDD.  This is driving my
Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 6100 LCD Projector. (Which is also the display for
the 360, Wii, a 3rd gen MacMini, and sometimes my EliteBook 8530w)

The screen tearing during the PS3 demo was jarring for me.

I have to say that I downloaded the demo to see what the ME3 engine was
bringing to the table.  I played up to Jacob, and the above
impression is all I came away with.  To be fair, I feel that I am
personally more critical of screen tearing that almost any other graphical
'problem'.  In other words: I'd rather have ME1 texture pop-in than a
screen tear.... that’s how much I hate screen tearing!

To everyone complaining about blurry graphics...

Make sure that you have 720p set as an option under Display Settings. Alot of people don't know this, but if you have your PS3 only set to display in 1080i/p and play a game that doesn't support anything over 720p, then your PS3 defaults to displaying the game in 480i.

I have 120GB PS3 slim. Noticed the tearing and FPS drops but the textures and shadows and what not seemed fine. It didn't seem exceptionally dark either. I'm hooked up to a 720P telly.

I did notice in areas the game looked better, but in about the same amount of areas the game looked worse.

But the main problem is...

THE AUDIO IS GLITCHED LIKE ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Xbox 360 version > PS3 version.

End of.

the issue isn't "blurry " graphics, it's the fact that they used the "improved" ME3 graphics engine for PS3's ME2 and it still looks worse (i.e. a lot less detail) than the X360.

Seemed like it was trying to be 60 fps but dropping in frame-rate frequently.

I just played part of the demo and I must say it is sloppy.

The "previously on mass effect" inclusion was nice... except if you are playing it on an HDTV or with a FEMALE character. The vid only has the male Shepard in it. It kinda confused me--I thought that I had accidentally picked the wrong character gender on the start-up screen. But, when the video was over, I did have a female character as my Shepard. Just a disappointing oversight.

Also, in the first few seconds of the demo, when femShep is putting on her helmet, her hair sticks out of the back of it... actually peeking magically through her helmet in the cutscene. I really, REALLY hope this was just an oversight on the demo. This would be terrible to release. I have both the 360 and the PS3. I've played it on the 360 many times before. But I was curious about the promised graphics quality on the PS3. I have to say, I was so distracted by the glitches that I didn't really notice many improvements. The vid was pixelated, the game had tearing, and the female character was completely neglected. Argh.

Thumbs down, Bioware. Better luck with ME3.

So, Bioware extended the demo? I remember the PC Demo ending after the Lazarus Station. Not sure on the 360 Demo since I never downloaded it.

It ends after the clinic mission, after you take out the vorcha, and morinth becomes a squad mate.

I played the demo and played with every class and both male and female shepard.

I would call this a "tie".

+On the PS3 version you can notice shadows are smoother.
+It looks brighter and... crispier.
+I had no screen tearing and I played at a nice and steady 30 FPS.
+It has perhaps a cleaner look to it, and from what I experienced is less blurry.
-It's a little rough on the edges of the character models, but this is also seen in the 360 version.
-there were odd sound glitches by the time I got to Mordin's.
-FemShep's Hair seems to completely flow out of her helmet... I wonder if her hair is so powerful it can't be contained....

+The 360 has more... dramatic shadows? like they are expecting a darker setting or something.
+It has MUCH more detail on characters (facial hair, scars, wrinkles, small skin details, the different "levels" and shadows created by muscles.)
-at times it can look blurrier.

That's at least what I noticed.

Everyone's PS3 is exactly the same.

I think it has something to do with your TV. I only ran into a single screen tear in the demo during the opening cutscene.  Later during the first convo with mordin I got some messed up audio. It happened when the Vorcha cut off the fans and it only last for a couple of seconds.

I think those images were faked too because it didn't look like that in my game.

The ps3 version can get up 60 fps.
