if no matter what - then it would not be alright.

Loosing in the end is a nice idea tough, that would be absolutely great, but only if theres a way to win via different choices...

What do players gain by having only one ending?

Read the response I gave to darknoon that you snipped out.

Why so many people want Shep dead as unique possible ending? I really can't catch this...

My dream ending from ages ago (the old MEforums)

ME3 will more then likely have multiple endings.
And this is how I'd love the trilogy to end for my main Shepard...

My Shepard, standing with his LI, holding her hand and them both looking up into a blood red sky, where we see multiple explosions off in the distance with a legion of Reapers flying overhead, darkening the sky, the scene then quickly cuts to flashing images of Reapers attacking each species planets, with the sounds of bombs, gunfire, screaming etc.
Scene cuts back to Shepard, he collapses to his knees, his LI rests her hand on his shoulder and the screen then fades to black.

Eventually the screen fades in and we see a new alien species looking at some kind of holigram, the hologram speaks of a species of sentient machines that is coming to destroy all organic life in the galaxy, the hologram is then revealed and we see that it is Shepard...

*cue M4 PTII*

See now I'd much prefer that to, Shepard winning and settling down with his LI or whatever.
Obviously it's not an ending for everyone but surely you could understand why someone would enjoy it.

So are you planning on deliberately losing?

I could get behind this as one of the possible endings.

I would enjoy and ending where there are significant losses. So overall, it's a bittersweet ending.

I'm hoping to lose without being forced to be an idiot.

I would never deliberatley lose. I just think that there should be varying degrees of losing. Make it like what the buggers did at the end of Enders Game.

I can like this as possible ending me too, but not at unique one. Probably I'll experiment all the possibilities, considering that ME3 will be the last chapter of the saga... but why thing must be forced to go in this way?

I'll do whatever is in character for my Shepard.
If thats results in me winning, so be it.
If not? much better.

I don't want it to be the only ending, simply a potential one.

You did ask why someone would want an ending like this in general, yes?

But didn't you say you were in favor of some sort of loss being the only outcome?

I do support loss being a part of everyone's outcome based on whatever choices they made.

I do not support there being only one ending.

So the mere existence of there being a victorious outcome would be disappointing?

No I was asking why someone would like this one as the only possible ending. I wan't questioning you in particular, but there's many topic about hom much people would like to have Shepard doing the Ultimate Ending as only choice, for various reasons.

Lossess, yes. The destruction of eath ve the weakening of the whole galactic community for example is enough epic and plausible in terms of loss. But having automatically to sacrifice Shep or 1/2 of the team will disappoint me.

If it lacked any kind of losses or repercussions, yes.

Each choice should result in both positives and negatives, some more than the other.
E.g) Cured the krogan? helps against Reapers but results in Civil war afterwards.
Sacrificed the Council? Build up of ships between humans and turians helps against reapers but creates tensions/hostilities between humans and turians post war.
Saved the Council + Destroyed Collector Base? Heavy losses but more stable galaxy afterwards.

Stuff like that.

@ Alienmorph, my mistake.

Not that I don't support a 'lose' ending as one of the options, but to have it as the only option (or to have all the options involve either Shepard dying or suffering heavy losses) would just be depressing. Maybe they make the cheesy 'everybody wins' ending dead hard to get, but I still want it to be there.
