When I click "play" nothing happens. I've tried setting all the settings to the lowest, I've tried setting it at the correct resolution, I've checked the minimum requirements. Nothing's working.

Bought the ultimate edition of DAO off steam.
When I click "play" on steam it opens up a selection screen that has links to support pages, configuration, uninstalling, the website etc, and play. When I click play, that selection screen closes, and then nothing happens.

Try going into your dragon age folder and then finding a folder called "bin_ship" or something similar you will see various files like DAlauncher DAupdater etc. Click the one called daorigins and open it. Should launch the game directly bypassing the configuration launcher. Seems to be some issues relating to the steam version of DA:UE and it's launcher file being corrupt.


Oh and update those drivers as Gorath says. Good Maintenence makes a happy computer!

Updating drivers now. I tried directly opening the game and got this error:

"The program can't start because fmod_event.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

I spent two days installing this, i don't really want to restart...

go to your dragon age folder, open the file with bin in its name (top one i think) copy all the dll files in it then go to C/Windows and open the folder System, paste the files in it then go back one step and do the same in the folder just below it (System32).

How do I fix the background programs issue?
And I tried that, Moondoggie. I also tried downloading the file by itself and put it in the bin file, I got a different error.
Updated drivers, still not working.
Steam seems to be downloading an update for DAO, maybe this is a fix?

Until you get the background mess cleared, new problems are guaranteed.  Use the two links already given to do it.
