I support Varric being a m/m option.

Less elf this time.

I agree it's not a dating sim, but it's not like that negates the possibility of romance entirely.

I feel elation. :)

In all honesty I felt the f/f was confirmed when Isabela was.

Very giddy.

And hoping it was Fenris.

Varric will make me cry. Hard.

>_> Though with my luck Gaider will enjoy that.

Honestly? Indifference. Well, I'm happy for the people who do care. I don't really.  Not that I'm against it.

I'm the same way as this.  Same sex romances are not important to me as a player, but I understand how they are important to others.  So I'm glad they are there, even if I'll never use them.  Or maybe I will.  Who knows?

Well I would have been surprised if there wasn't gay options considering Origins. Frankly I really like the idea of their being gay options in this gay because of the sheer hilarty of the big hero that chantry needs to find is a Lesbian Maleficar who is dating a pirate.

I'm very, very happy about this. As a gay male, it's very nice to feel somewhat included (in a way) in such a big form of media, and Dragon Age is the only franchise I can think of that's done it twice that I've played. Not saying other having, just not many.

God, I hope it's Fenris...if Anders is in the game, that'd be okay too. Or maybe someone else. Who knows.

Have to agree it's more awkward getting hit on by a woman. It's more rare so not expected, for one thing.

Gonna disagree here. I've been out dancing and had a guy I'd never met before slide up to me and begin grinding his erection against my ass. I recall the time a guy I was chatting to at a party leaned over, kissed me, and managed to suck my tongue into his mouth before I knew what was happening. (which was actually ickier than grindy guy)

The most aggressively a woman has hit on me? Uh... a woman I just met told me I had a great jawline. One asked me if she could buy me a drink.

You didn't happen to be living in the Mediterranean at the time?  LOL

I tend to let my guard down more with women, so to have it "go there" is... very awkward.  I had a single friend who wouldn't share an apartment because she was so weirded out about a female roommate hitting on her once.

So anyway, it might not be everyone, but at least some people find that more uncomfortable than an opposite sex flirtation.

Maybe I missed it somewhere in the thread, but where was this confirmed exactly?

Can I just stick up for David Gaider a little bit.

Someone said earlier in the thread that David had basically kyboshed the idea of S/S romance in DA2. Which I am sorry is patently untrue.

I remember the thread in which he spoke about s/s romance and I do believe he was in actual fact responding to one of my posts (I admit it I squeed like a fangirl when he replied to one of my post *fans self with fingers like a camp gay*) and at no point did he actually say s/s wasnt going to happen.

If I remember right he actually said that he himself and many on the development team would love to introduce as diverse and varying romances as they could; but they could only do so within the constraints of the time limit they have to work on such things and that frankly other parts of the game had greater priority than s/s romance.

Which as sad as it made me to hear I understood. But he didnt actually rule out s/s romance at any point.

I am very pleased (both as a gay and as an equality and fairness loving human being) that development is far enough along now that they feel they can realistically include s/s romance.

Yay.

I know in a interview they said they would have romance options for all orientations.

I can never understand why heterosexual men confident in their orientation are ever bothered when they're hit on by a gay man. They should be flattered. Gay men tend to have higher standards than their straight counterparts. Hetero men that are offended when a gay man flirts with them are probably just upset that they're being seen as a piece of meat... which is exactly what most hetero men view women as! So when the tables are turned, and they don't like it one bit. I say, get over yourselves. Be thankful someone is attracted to you enough to pay you some attention!

Wholeheartedly agree.  My husband feels flattered if a man finds him attractive. :)

Higher standards of what? Given for heterosexual man no man is "good enough" to trigger sexual desire, that doesn't leave much room for standards higher than that. For the gay men the same could be said but regarding women. So at best, that means their tastes are different. Which is a duh, of course.

Don't feed the trollz.

@FitScotGaymer. Yeah, I'm relatively new to the fan world, and I just read the posts yesterday. I never sensed anything that was anti s/s relationship, but more anti-LI-mass-support-rally from everyone.

I imagine LI territory is one of the trickiest and most headache inducing for the writing staff. Because they are damned if they don't and damned if they do. Everyone demands their own piece of fantasy in the game, and when the writers can't fullfill it, people go into a fit and needlessly nitpick and complain and ****** about characters that they worked so hard to create. Specifically because they didn't meet their ideals of romantic fantasy.

I say they just go the way of Harvest Moon. "Here are ten stereotypes for romance, and they all end the same but you have your pick. Enjoy"

People would hush so fast and go back to respecting them...

As a straight male who doesn't "get" the appeal lesbians have to other straight males - it's not as if those women have any such use for us, at least in an equivalent sense - I can't say I get that either.

If I can't picture myself in the relationship, I can't imagine how it applies to me.  I can certainly appreciate a M/M or F/F relationship at a distance, but that's because that's the only way I'd ever really experience them.

I can't understand understand the interest in s/s pornography, personally.

The reason I like the s/s romance for a female character is that I can understand what would be attractive about that particular female character, so it just resonates with me at that level.

I'm glad. Nice to know my Dude Hawke won't be abstaining from sex for ten years. Although if Aveline is available it's probably going to be a romantic dilemma.

You haven't played Jade Empire? It has same-sex relationships of both genders.

Hmm.. I wonder if any of your companions will have a problem with you being in a same sex relationship.

Or if a sibling didn't know you were gay or lesbian and talked to you about it personally.

That would be very interesting.
