Hi!
On Eletania (the planet with the space monkeys), you can find this "Prothean Ruin". When I activated the orb it said that I need a key and I read on the internet, that you get the key from the Asari consort. So I checked my Journal and it said, that the Asari consort gave me a trinket. So why can't I open the orb? Is it a bug? Normally I wouldn't mind so much, but I heard, that it has a big influence on the story in Mass Effect 2. Thanks!

Might be a glitch in the journal - if the Consort gave you the key, you'd know it - it's in the cutscene. You have to have solved both of her problems with the Turian general and the Elcor diplomat, and don't go to her to report your progress until you've done them both.

If you missed this you'd have to replay from a save, but it's not crucial. It's a nice Easter Egg but has no influence on the ME2 story.

Yeah, the problem is that I don't remember if the consort really gave it to me, because I haven't played in a while, but if it's not necessary for ME2 I will leave it alone, I think ^^

Did you talk to the elcor after you talked to Septimus and before you talked to the consort? If not she didn't give you the trinket.

I had the same problem on my last playthrough. I'd read exactly what I had to do in order to activate the orb, so i spoke to the consort, then septimus, the Xeltan, then finally the consort again. She gave me the gift of words and then handed over the small trinket. When I later travelled to Eletania I went straight for the orb, recovered it then read the text. When it said "...although you are unlikely to ever find such an item", I thought 'eh'? I can only assume it was glitch, but kind of annoying as this is the playthrough I'm going to import. (I'm a bit of a completionist). I got so frustrated that it put me off playing it because I wanted some closure. I'm damn sure I did the quest properly, and now the consort's chambers are inaccessible. Apart from me and the original poster, has anyone else had this problem?

This issue kinda bugged me in a couple of playthroughs, so I just made sure to save prior to starting this quest. Since I started the habit, it hasn't happened since, but that may be just because I'm paying more attention to my actions.

Don't worry, you can always edit your ME2 save.

It doesn't affect the ME2 story, you jsut get an email from the consort at some point. It may carry through to ME3 though... noone knows. If it's broke and you don't want to restart, it's easy to fix the flag when you get to 2 with the ME2 save editor.

are those prothean ruins on that planet (with the monkeys)? i remember you had to search thru the monkey colonies to get the data module, is that the planet you are referring to?

ive read somewhere that the trinket consort hands over will give us some insight on the protheons, if we take it to the ruins on the right planet. i was always kind of curious where this exactly was.

yes that is the planet.

You find the ruines to the south east iIrc corner of the map area, behind the really tall mountains you land near. Trick is go out the back instead of fighting back through the mountains, when you go into the red area on your minimap it teleports you back to the starting point.

You get a plot flag, and a short story if you activate the ruins and then, activate the ball, to use the trinket.

I just did the Septimus (turian general) quest for her, and still got the email in ME2.

Judging by the reactions here, it is safe to say that there is no direkt link to the prothean orb (completed ofcourse) and anything in ME2. Anybody that can confirm?

There is no link to anything in ME2, but there is a stored plot flag to carry over. There are not a huge number of flags carried over from ME1 to ME2 as seen in a gibbed editor. So the very fact that it is flagged is interesting, since 3/4 or more of the side-quests aren't.  So the implications are ME3 will get something, at this point unknown.

My exact complate. My final ME1 playthrough and this crap happens. Its kind of a downer a glitch ruining an otherwise perfect file. Watch it come out to be a huge thing in ME3 lol
