The hell are you talking about? Isabela is not the leading lady and jade empire had zero fanservice characters.

This is just false,
Just because Bioware prefers a diffrent design for their characters that dosen't include pants dosen't make it a fan service.

I don't know, if you told me that BIoware were skilled at making JRPG's I wouldn't be able to disagree given some of the design aesthetics

Yes you would. DA2 shares very little in aesthetics with a jrpg.

That's a question for David Gaider I guess, but I am 99% he doesn't make goat romances for Bioware games.

Yay, forumite tears, most delicious.

As in leading lady or not, she is featured in the trailer and getting quite enough media coverage to be one.

Jade Empire had modest fanservice, Mass Effect really walked the slippery slope, then all hell broke loose: Morrigan in her stripperific outfit, 'Dat Ass' Miranda, and now Isabela.

Let's not argue about it. My opinion anyways.

Well let me just say that when I was playing KOTOR did I think wow this was like Baldur's Gate, or man this is more like Chrono Cross I think I would have to go with it being more like Chrono Cross

Well, if you can seriously make that leap then I have nothing to say.

Wizardry
Icewind Dale
Planescape
Fallout
Eye of the Beholder
Elder Scrolls
Gothic
Rogue
Ultima

what else is there?  Deus Ex?  Sure I guess quest strucutre coupld be similar to Deus Ex.  But damn if Bioware didn't start making Linear RPG's in the early 2000s that require you to interact more with your NPC party members than customize them.

Let's not argue about it. My opinion anyways.

1.you don't understand the diffrence between aesthetic design choices and fan service. Lara croft is a fan service
Lilys song is a fan service.
Dragon age is not a realistic game by any means, to claim that a witch who grew up in the forest decides to show a little cleavage is a fan service is completley ridicolous. Maybe Bioware prefers that look on THEIR characters.

2.It's funny how everyone mentions Dat ass miranda but forgets that jacob had an equal amount of Ass time as well as Ab time. Is jacob a fan service too?
Again Maybe bioware wanted to go with a diffrent feel for ME2 and decided to express that through design choices as they are doing with DA2.

Design choice=/="fan service" in summary.

If both Morrigan and Leliana was based on someone in real life, I wonder who Aveline and Isabela are based on?

Blur, who did the sacred ashes trailer, based their looks on two models. The characters themselves aren't based on specific people.

The Right Honorable Gaider did mention in one of the conventions that by his estimation the romances may be in slightly.. riskier territory? Something like that.

Slightly riskier? Hm, would it be considered a slight risk for a fem!Hawke blood mage to romance Fenris? After all, he was a slave to a Tevinter magister. I'm pretty sure a mage is the last person he'd fall for, well easily, anyway. Heck, what would happen if fem!Hawke found out that Fenris wasn't just a slave but a sex slave? That's not even a heavy risk. That's a "man the swords and staffs. All hellfire's about to break loose; Maker help us, we're all gonna die!" risk.

Getting back on topic, my thoughts broken down here:

Isabela (for fem!Hawke's and m!Hawke's)
Varric - not an LI
Aveline - not an LI
Fenris - only for fem!Hawke's

Possible companions yet to be released (note: just my thoughts; do not take these as fact):

Female Dalish Mage (only for m!Hawke's)
Human Male Mage (for fem!Hawke's and m!Hawke's)

I'm not really sure how things will play out (like who's romanceable and who's not), but there you go just the same. *tosses two pennies onto a table*

Second time I'll say this. Its a shame that Bethany is Hawke's sister because I find her to be the most attractive among the female companions that are confirmed.

I was a bit wrong, actually, the word was "risqué"... And it was about the "nudity level," not the romances themselves, per se. Apologies for this misinformation. :P

Well, one could make the argue that the actual combat has more in common with a JRPG--what with the long, slender weapons that seem to be made of air and the impractical combat flipping around (and the teleportations...)--than with a more traditional WRPG, like DAO.

As for the visuals themselves, well, they're not gaudy enough to be from a JRPG, of course.

Of course, even the Japanese know that Putties are so early 90s.

Just what about Aveline has said she's "macho"? The fact that she's muscular?

That and she murders a darkspawn by beating it down with her fits.
