@sinosleep: yeah, not a typo, 25 awards. :) Of course it has to be said that out of that 25 there were 14 Reader's Choice and 11 Author's Choice and there were that many because they have separate awards for PC, Xbox 360 and Overall. Personally I think that that's a bit too much awards - they could just keep the Overall awards and in that category give a Best PC or whatever platform award or something like that. On the other hand, given the categories, I think ME2 well deserves all the awards it got, so no harm done. :)

@Fredvdp: I agree that some choices on the VGAs were more than odd (*cough* Neil Patrick Harris for Spiderman *cough*) and some were at least discussable, but despite that and what sinosleep said - regardless of what kind of reputation the VGAs have, Mass Effect 2 still won awards there and the point of this thread is to make a thourough list of all the awards from relatively major sites (or events) ME2 receives. So I will keep it on the list - if you don't think much of the VGAs, you still have plenty of other authors' awards to choose from. :P

Also, there are other awards on the horizon soon because on 10th of January the Reader's Choice voting on GameSpot ends and I think that it will end on IGN quite soon too.

Why it's bad thing?

It's good to have competition, because it means winning award isn't allways so easy. How ever, every year there is competition, it's just question how good they are as competition. I have seen people to miss games as competition, just because they don't think they count as competition. Every game what is in the same category, even how bad the other game is in someones opinions, is still competition.

If You remarks means that in your opinion there be better or more games than past year 2010, so more competitions, then isn't that good thing? I think it's allways nice to see how good games get rewared by awards. So congratulations Bioware for winned Awards in 2010. I hope, in this year 2011 we get even better games and more competition.

Tom clancy did the EXACT same thing, by making games that are more for the casual gamer and not the hardcore/ immersive crowd. I used to feel so refreshed playing a game that took itself seriously and portrayed the gaming world in a REALISTIC fashion on the level that Clancy games used to. Not anymore.

Yeah right. What Tom Clancy did was to change the genre of his games. Look how Rainbow Six Raven Shield was mostly a strategy/shooter game (30 minutes of preparation, 5 of action) and Vegas 1 and 2 were only shooters.

And you know what, the Vegas games are better than the previous games, but I understand why the community complained, they got a game from a completely different genre. The ME games were always RPG shooters, just because their shooter elements are bearable now, and more people like it, it doesn't mean that you can pull the 'Dumbed down' card. As for the RPG elements gone, we have either been playing different RPGs, or you liked RPGs for the wrong reason.

Thanks, much appreciated! :) I am really curious how many more it will get - when I opened the thread, I had a feeling that it's going to be a large number and so far I haven't been mistaken (although if I said I knew it would reach around 70 awards, I would lie). Moreover, Reader's Choice awards are about to start dropping in a few days and I'm positive that there are a lot of them heading this way. :P

Just added a bunch of new awards. Be on the lookout tomorrow (or the day after) also because the GameSpot's Reader's Choice voting ends. :)

Haha, it would be insane if ME2 could reach 100 GOTY awards.

Forgot to mention before, I found two awards for Best Publisher (EA) but since Mass Effect 2 was only one of the games that caused them getting the awards, I didn't put them on the list (since they were shared with NFS: Hot Pursuit and others).

Another thing: the 113 awards that Uncharted 2 got in 2009 and is the current record for most GOTYs (source: Wikipedia, List of Awards) include Best of E3 awards (which amounts to 19 awards) which in my opinion should not be counted as they are really not Game of the Year awards, only Game of E3 awards. So if ME2 really manages to go over 100, it will definitely be a new record (unless RDR gets more awards, but from what I've gathered checking the awards, I doubt it). :)

EDIT: added three awards from Cheat Code Central.

Sorry for the delay (out of time yesterday), the awards are now on the list. Thanks to v1k0 for the heads-up.

On a side-note, Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening won Best Expansion Pack (Reader's Choice) and Dragon Age II won Early 2011 Most Anticipated (Reader's Choice). Congrats to BioWare for that too! :)
(Witch Hunt, on the other hand, "won" Worst DLC for Good Games - both Author's and Reader's Choice). :P

Holy crap, that was a lot of IGN awards (thanks to Phaedon for the heads-up). Additional 4 Author's Choice (in the Overall Category) and a whopping 24 Reader's Choice awards which, combined with the ones already on the list, amount to a total of 39 awards (including Game of the Year Author's and Reader's Choice).

I think congratulations are in order because now the total number of awards is 118, which beats Uncharted 2's 113 which was the previous record holder for most GOTYs awarded. Congrats BioWare!!! :) Will put it on the Wiki Game of the Year article also when all the awards are through (there's at least the GDC awards yet to be awarded on March 2nd).

Competition is good. Nintendo wouldn't be one of the best and biggest developers if it weren't for Sega.

Dome.fi (reader's choice GOTY 2010 Finland) 4 awards - http://dome.fi/pelit...tyksen-tulokset

Best script 2010

Best PC Game 2010

Best Xbox 360 Game 2010

Game of the Year 2010

Casey Hudson comments:

"We've been all year completely baffled by Mass Effect 2's reactions to the global players. We are very glad and thankful Dome.fi's readers' Game of the Year selection and the Game of the Year awards including the PC and Xbox 360 - and of course the best game script victories"

"Our success is based primarily on the public to accept games as an artistic medium, which can be mirrored to the relationship between the character's emotions. Games can also offer challenges and excitement. The entire team would like to thank you for this recognition!"

(Pardon sloppy translation but I just used Google translator - so lazy).
