THE CONSOLE WARS NEED TO STOP

This forum is NOT for Xbox 360 fans, or PC fans, or PS3 fans to say "I am cooler than you because I use "X" and you don't". If you cannot keep your narrowminded platform bigotry to yourself, you will not be posting here.

Not to go against what you're saying since I completely agree (I own all 3 platforms and don't take sides), but you guys (Bioware) should have expected this since you've made a once exclusive game multiplatform. If you want to bring a former console exclusive to another console, you're going to have to deal with console wars. It's inevitable unfortunately. So unless you're willing to ban a large portion of the members here, you guys are just going to have to sit back and let this play itself out. And let me tell you, it never ends. You'll be tiring yourself out and you'll hardly be making a dent. :( Just a little friendly advice.

Didn't BW say the game went Gold? Doesn't that mean the Demo is pretty much the finished game?

Anyway don't blame BW. I can't think of one successful port to the PS3.

not to add to the console war or anything, but I liked Dragon Age on PS3 more than the 360 version.

well I guess it wouldn't be considered a port

I'm 90% sure that wasn't a port. They built the game from the ground up on the PS3 and 360.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

wtf why is liara in the ship ashly is supposed to be O_o

That depends ... On my first ME2 playthrough I had Kaiden (default female), on the second Ashley (imported male) and on the third Liara (imported female)

Considering the comics takes place after the initial scene, Liara makes sense.

I don't understand why you can't express an opinion on which platform is superior for a specific game. That's not "starting a war", it's a perfectly reasonable topic imo. Now I won't break the rules here and keep my opinion to myself, but I'm wondering why this has become such a taboo. Maybe the problem is that people are too sensitive...

the game has horrendous frame rate drops, frequent screen tearing and general poor performance... during both gameplay and dialogue.

... it was unacceptably bad.

Why on earth did you release this horrific PS3 demo? I thought maybe it was my brother in-law's PS3.. maybe it was damaged or soemthing... but it isn't.

Just go to youtube, search for ME2 PS3 demo... and watch the intro, they all pretty much have the exact same screen tearing and frame rate loss I saw on his ps3.... so it doesn't seem to be an isolated incident.

Did Bioware even test the damn demo? Or watch it? It may be an earlier build than the final version, but it's scared him off from buying it.. and probably a fair number of other people as well.

The worst though was during combat... anytime you tried to spin around quickly to face another direction, the FPS often dropped to what looked like no more than 20fps.... ugh.

So it wasn't just me... I own the PC version and I felt like the graphics on the computer were vastly superior to what I saw on my PS3-- that is probably due to the fact that the PS3 hardware is pretty dated compared to my PC, but the tearing and inconsistent frame rate was very noticeable, and SHOULD NOT be present... given that it's so close to launch it's probably too late to fix the issues too...

I had wanted to get this game for the PS3 since I wanted to play ME3 on my large plasma TV, and I need a save file from ME2... but I gotta be honest—from what I saw in the demo, it seems like a really poorly executed port.

I hope you guys at Bioware know what you're doing.

Honestly, Bioware did mess up. It's a pretty decent port, I think you're exaggerating a bit TC but it surely hasn't impressed PS3 users.

I don't think this was intended as a bad rap to the PS3 Chris, the OP seems to be saying that BioWare rushed this version out. If anything, he's saying that he would prefer that all console versions be as good as possible. It's not hating, it's actually criticism. Good or bad, like it or not, people won't play a version if it looks unfinished. Why would you expect them to?

I didn't romance anyone in ME1 and I got Ash. I am also confused to why Liara is there.

I agree with the OP. My experience with the ME2 PS3 demo mirrors his brother's.

On my PS3, I see screen tearing and frame-rate stutters beginning with TIM's intro and during actual gameplay. Also, I experience sound glitches when I enter Mordin's clinic and from then on. Some ambient sounds are completely absent, and special effect sounds--particularly biotic effects--are significantly delayed.

I own a 360, a PS3, and a wii, and I've been a computer gamer since the early 80s--I began with the original Ultima and Wizardry games. So I have almost 30 years of electronic gaming experience. I choose multiplatform games for specific systems based on personal preference using both subjective and objective factors.

There's nothing wrong with my PS3; I've been playing AC: Brotherhood and Star Wars-The Force Unleashed II without a hitch in either game. Those aren't ports, obviously--ME2 is.

I share the OPs concerns regarding the effect this subpar demo performance will have on potential ME2 PS3 buyers. I own the collector's editions for both ME and ME2, and I'll certainly buy the uber collector's edition of ME3 for the 360. I was going to buy the PS3 version too--I'm a completionist. Now I'm reconsidering my purchase plans.

Perhaps Chris was directing his warning at those posters who did assert one console's superiority over another--there are a few posts in that vein. Because certainly reasonable people can discuss issues reasonably, without facing what some may consider defensive retaliation.

The neutral option in the PC and the XBox game is the VS (Kaidan/Ashley) and only if you have a finished romance you get your LI (Kaidan/AShley/Liara).
But for the PS3 the comic, during which you can decide who the VS is takes place after the destruction of the Normandy so during that you have to talk to Liara because the VS  is not decided yet and you naturally can´t talk to Ashley and then decide that you saved Kaidan on Virmire.

Looks like there is some real discussion on this topic, not just console vs. console idiocy.  The link has video where you can do a side by side comparison.

While I agree that the 360 v ps3 threads get redundant, this seems like a legitimate concern...if the ps3 version does have significant screen tear or framerate drops, well I want to know about it

Off to download the PS3 demo for myself..

I'll be back with my honest opinions. If I see it, I see it. If not, cool

I don't have any console, just PC. So, can't give feedback to one way or other.

But if the game doesn't work well in some console, I think that's valid consern, when comparing it to other hardware possibilities.

A legitimate concern that has been discussed at length in the PS3 demo thread already. This thread is completely redundant.

From my experience, Liara is only there if you romanced her. On the default play-through, both Ashley and Kaidan are aboard the ship depending on your sex.

My guess is VS will be determined in the comic, and you can't have Ashley or Kaidan on the ship if there's a chance either could die in the comic.

I thought it would run better on the ps3, so I'm a bit surprised. I'm happy to own a 360 then.
About the consoles... I don't care which one is best, I buy the one who has the exclusive games I like most, simple as that.
