I'm currently playing the PC version of Mass Effect. Right now, I've already finished Noveria (I'm not sure if I finished Artemis Tau yet, but I probably have) but I haven't even started on Feros. I was about to go to Feros, but then I got the option of going to Virmire. At first, I thought I was doing the planets in correct order, but then I realized that I should have saved Virmire for the end.
I have a save state in the Mako tank portion of it, but I can't go back to the Normandy by pressing N. If there is a way to get back to the Normandy, then that'd be much appreciated.
Anyways, does doing Virmire before Feros affect the story at all?
Stuck on Virmire?

Once you're down on Virmire, you have to finish it. You can't go back until you're done.

Alright then...but will doing it before the other planets affect the story? I want to follow the good side of the story, not the bad. I want to play this game to the fullest

Assuming you're still a low level, not having enough Charm/Intimidate points to win an argument may effect one of the biggest (IMO) points in the series later on.

I'm level 26. Is that high enough?

If you have a save before Virmire, and you really want to experience everything the game has to offer, you should go back.

Should be fine as long as you've invested in either Charm or Intimidate enough to win an upcoming event.Chickenlipper wrote...

I forget how much you need to be invested in it, but you'll probably be alright.

I usually play in the order Therum, Feros, Virmire then Noveria. This is because if you do Noveria last then you don't tell the Council about the Rachni. And since I like to keep Jeong alive I have to earn loads of paragon points first.
