Which Reaper did you like more: Sovereign or Harbinger?

For some reason Harbinger always seemed slightly detached in ME2, as far as I was concerned. He wasn't actually present as such, getting his hands dirty. He was more of an unseen menace, pulling strings from the background, whereas Sovereign was right in your face and much more intimidating for it.

Sovereign: "Our numbers will darken the sky of every world. You cannot escape your doom."
Sends chills down my spine every time I hear that.

It's Harbinger for me. Sure, Sovereign was more badass, but Harbinger was a lot more smarter than Sovereign. Sovereign was just an arrogant machine who didn't realise what threat Shepard really is. Whenever Shepard asked him something, he replied with insults. Also, he was so st**d to attack the Citadel alone with some geth ships. Harbinger, on the other hand, was smart. He acknowledged Shepard as a threat, used the Collectors and when Shepard destroyed the Human Reaper he didn't seem to care much.
Good point, but in ME1 the Reapers didn't have any experience with Shepard yet so this was all new and Sovereign (like all the rest of the Reapers probably) underestimated Shepard for being an organic being. On the second round, Harbinger had the advantage of knowing what Shepard was capable of, thus it would be obvious that any Reaper would act with more respect and careful to Shepard.
As for my opinion on this...it is hard to say, we definantelly had more interaction with Sovereign and his lines are super awesome, but Harbinger is cool too. So for me it is a tie for now, maybe it will change in ME3 when we see all the rest of the gang.

Sovereign, he scared the bejebus out of me when I first met him, yet he was so captivating with his speech against organic life. Harbinger was just annoying, he never said anything original.
They shouldve used his cut out dialogue.

Harbinger on the other hand went out of his way to ruin Shepard's day, succeeded in killing him/her, made Shepard go on a suicide mission, and then at the end of the day wasn't even phased at all by anything Shepard did in ME2. All while he wasn't even in the galaxy.

"For an eternity, we watched, we waited, we sewed. We reaped. For an eternity we thought ourselves immortal. For an eternity, we thought ourselves gods. Until now, we were right. As the darkness gathers, as I am consumed in the dark end of mortality, as I watch my comrades torn to pieces by their own ignorance, I can not help but sense a great sadness dwelling within my core. The irony of our end is immense and crushing. These bacteria, these small, fragile accidents of nature, these organics, rip and blow us apart with their primitive weapons of rock. They are truly the vanguards of our destruction. They existed because we allowed it, and now we end, because they demand it."

His threat felt so much more real than what Harbinger was. Sovereign was there and the threat was immediate. We saw him on the very first mission and didn't have a damn clue what he was or what he was doing there.

Harbinger and his mob of Collectors felt like a miscast of villains.

Also, he is the one leading the reapers to destroy all life in the galaxy. D:

Agreed. However, he was ignorant not only about Shepard, but about almost everything. Too arrogant. Harbinger was also arrogant, but at least not as much as Sovereign.Larask wrote...

All i heard from Sovereign was "I am beyond your comprehension" and how great the Reapers are. Also, unlike Sovereign, Harbinger managed to do something.

That said, I like Sovereign better. Not because of Sovereign itself, but because its allies are cooler. Sovey turned rogue one of the most prominent Spectres and the most powerful Asari Matriarch. Look who Harby has in command: a hoard of bugs who can't even eat or talk! I'm sorry Harby, I like you, but your sidekicks suck.

Yeah, but these "bugs" kinda did much more than the geth and Saren.iOnlySignIn wrote...

So it's going to feel like I'm walking into a retirement home full of eccentric old people when I converse with the Reapers?iOnlySignIn wrote...
I like both. I think it is necessary for us to see that not all Reapers are the same. They have individuality and character, even if each one is a nation onto itself. And Harby shows us that even Reapers can have emotions - if obsession counts as an emotion. I'm looking forward to seeing different Reapers with various different personalities in ME3. Would be interesting.
