I can't find anything about 3 problems I encountered while creating my first module. So I desided to ask here.

(1) Rendering Lightmaps corrupt trees. Rendering Lightmaps on my custom level takes a lot of time but always finishes without any error. But when I turn "Display Lightnmaps" on, all my trees have half of their leaves colored black (like these leaves do not have any textures). But lightmaps applied to trees' trunks and the other half of trees' leaves are ok.

(2) Trees placed outside of level's mesh are not affected by lightmaps rendering at all. While all other objects (like buildings) are affected.

(3) Post Selection to Local corrupts level. There are a lot of "Faild to find lightmaps for tree" warnings during export prosess. If I then try to use my exported custom level as a layout for new area, 2 problems occur: all trees will disappear; some parts of water mesh will have waves missing (water will look like usual mirror in some places).

Can anyone suggest how to fix these problems?

First, make sure you are rendering lightmaps and probes and posting to local from the Single Player module. Doing so will allow you to render water correctly and fix a lot of the issues that can occur when posting from your module. Later once you are finished with the level, you can move the layout folder from packages - core - override to your module - override.

Sometimes, some of the trees will be darker than the adjacent trees (esp noticeable when you toggle chunk boundaries on and toggle it off again). Usually, this is just a rendering problem in the toolset and should go away when you restart it.

I tried to render lightmaps and probes and post to local from the Single Player module, but it did not help.

Maybe I did something wrong? First I opened Single Player module and then opened my custom level from its usual folder. Rendering and Posting lead the the same problems. Then I tried to move my test module with custom level to Single Player's override folder. Again Rendering and Posting lead to the same mistakes.

Any suggestions?

The first approach was correct - open the level file in SP, but leave your module where it is.

When the level is ready for posting, my cookbook is

- delete any erf files and old level output
- post minimap to local
- render lightmaps
- render light probe
- Do All Local Posts
- Don't do anything else on the computer while the above is happening

I never depart from that exact sequence, otherwise wierd stuff can happen, especially with trees.

Hope that helps.

Make sure you delete all the temporary files before trying to lightmap and post again.

On Win7 x64, my speedtree temp folder is under C: -> users -> <user name> -> appdata -> local -> temp -> speedtreepackage

Should be something similar for older (or x86 OS). You can search for speedtreepackage. Delete everything under that folder and try again.

Nope... still these 3 problems.

Maybe... Can anyone try to render my level and see if he also has the same problems?

Still can't fix it...

By the way. Can it be some kind of hardware issue? Anyone has same problems with Radeon graphic cards?
