Oooh, a Valen forum! Valen was my first pixel love, he's what really got me into gaming. That voice! Hmmn, him or Anders ... tough call ... (RL, Valen wins hands down of course, I'd run a mile from the guy possed by a spirit!)

^ Agreed. In all the Bioware games that I've played, in RL, I'd run for the hills if I ever met Anders and just stock up on potions. Oddly enough, I would easily get along with Fenris, but I just can't EVER be mean to Valen, so I'd get along with him easily as well. Even on my Rhaine Steel the Evil Blackguard playthrough, I just chose the neutral options that I knew would give no relationship points. Being mean to Valen is just cruel and senseless to me.

Am I the only one that really doesn't like his voice? ;_; I found a video of his confession on tumblr and I listened to it for the first time in ages. And I was pretty disappointed. I think all the years of idolizing Valen made me forget what his voice sounded like. XD (I don't know if anybody has talked about this before in this monster post, I kinda skipped 40 or so pages.)

And I came in to express my off-topic delight of the fact that one of my friends was getting rid of his old games and came by yesterday to drop off his copy of NWN Diamond because he knew I was trying to hunt down a copy! *Evil dance of happiness* The only bad news is the disc is pretty beat up, but as long as it installs, I'll be happy enough to see what this Valen guy is all about.

Ahh Valen. I remember him well. For years, out of Bioware video game history he was the only man I'd ever truly loved and wrote squealing fangirl fiction for. For me, it wasn't his VA, it was his personality - he was wonderful. A good man, but no so good he's unafraid of getting his hand dirty. Moody but mostly kind, sensitive to the point where once he falls in love with the female hero he can't even take joke. Surpinsingly poetic and romantic. He and Mass effect Thane are the only video games characters I've ever really felt anything for - the rest were just a fling.

I noticed the bolded part. Second time I walk down a path in the Underdark, and all of then sudden, I hear Valen talking and I'm going "Crap! Did we get attacked?! I knew I should've rested up everybody!" 

Turned around and he was reciting poetry.

And I liked it.

Valen's one of few characters that I want to just lie on while they chat on about whatever they like, just so I can listen to his lovely voice. The only other two in this category is Fenris from DA2 and Raziel from the Legacy of Kain series.

So, I just completed round 1 of HotU...

And I adored it. Valen was awesome and I managed to romance him (Huzzah! I was worried I'd mess up my first time through... I always mess something up) Deeks! I loved the kobold until when we were trying to free the Knower of Names and he kept telling me to launch of the catapult at all of the wrong places.

The only part I disliked: My chaotic neutral druid's true name was kind of masculine despite she being... well, a she! (Murdus the Wild, Judge of Cania)

Next round? Trying for a neutral good or chaotic good Sorceress/Ranger and go for the Arcane Archer spec (basically, my favorite spec in NWN2, so let's see how I like it in the original).

Oh, there are so many ways I took that to the gutter-- but this thread seems much more innocent then the Fenris one, so hey, I'm not going to be the one to get in trouble for putting gutter things up.

Also, I'm not allowed to get bored. Ever. I went to go do something else, got distracted, and started a pet-project to convert TS2 face data to NWN heads, and then to put it my own skintones.

This is the product (not even my actual primary character-- just a temporary to check the lips).

You know what? I miss Valen. They should bring him back or atleast in some kind of character redesign, (and no, I don't mean that jerk Fenris) I want as close a Valen as possibe, complete with half demonic heritage, horns, tail, and new goat feet.

Valen was so perfect though. For someone who generally play a neutral/chaotic evil mage there was no better companion. He wasn't afraid of magic, enjoys a good fight, and was a loving and support partner. I mean, I like Thane Krios of ME2, but I prefer the Fantasy universe and I don't think Thane would be all that supportive if I decided to nuke a town or summon a demon and decimate a settlement.

Valen wouldn't mind it as long as I convinced him that there are demons or something in there. How I miss the Neverwinter nights where I would lay waste to the underdark....

That's a particular wish very dear to myself and most (if not all) of this thread; having NWN redone in the technology avaliable to gameing now-days.

Imagine how damn (more) awsome Valen's love confession would be if you could actually watch it as a cutscene? Could actually watch him kiss your PC? (And more -DD, I know your're thinkin' what I'm thinkin' )

And, hell, what about the spell graphics? Coz I am addicted to magic-using....FIRE!
And now I want NWN 2011 soooooo bad. But it does not exsist......

And now to veer off-topic (Sorry, please excuse me) - CEP..........WTF!!!!!!!!!!???????? Either there is some fundamental, basic thing that I do not understand here or, well, I don't know - But I seem to be not getting it - AT ALL!!!!

I completely feel your pain regarding CEP. I think at one point I had three different versions installed on my laptop because different modules are compatible with different ones, and none of them seem to do anything to the OCs! So frustrating...

To get back on-topic, has anyone ever wondered how Valen would react to the other Ch. 1 companions? If crazy Halaster had let anyone besides Deekin go with your PC, how would Valen have treated them? Personally, I think the only one he'd really get along with would be Daelan, but then I never pictured him getting along with Deekin, either. Thoughts, anyone?

Hi, I've been watching this thread for a while, same with the fenris thread :3 but I kinda gas up on the fenris thread after I got DA2 cause I could never keep up with the posts, but would it be too much to ask you guys to post some English-valen on YouTube? D: i only found 2 vids of him, and I'm on withdrawal. I just made my account to ask for this xP dunno why the idea didn't hit me before. Help a fellow tiefling fancier in need? :3
