In other news, Yvonne looks hotter in real life than she does in game. Something to do with how the digitising of faces works perhaps.
The way we view a persons facial characteristics are based on the miniscule differences said face has between the left and right halves, which comes down to defining the face millimetre by millimetre. These imbalances tend to get smoothed over, as they average out the differences between left and right.
To truly recreate a face, the resolution would have to be so fine so to require a seperate dvd just for facial models.
I remember... the model thatw as used for Empress of Time Kayleena in Prince of Persia Warrior within... her 3d character turned out better than the model herself....
I guess Miranda is the opposite, the character turned out worse than the Model lol....
It should be an insult to Yvonne that Miranda turned out with the Jaw of Silverster stalone.

Obviously the tinfoil miniskirt and thigh-high boots reference fails here, but I'll take solace in the fact that Ashley fans probably got it.
Lol, we got it.
I would squeal at a tinfoil miniskirt and thigh-high boots, errr, cutscene in ME3 with Ash
Come on Bioware!!

I'm not sure how you can think this isn't an inflammatory thing to ask.
Whether Ashley is "attractive" or not by any standards is thoroughly irrelevant. She looks the way she looks and no superficial outcry will change that.
And personally, I happen to find her the most attractive human squad member in either game, save only Jack.
Jack would be waaaaaay hotter with hair and you know this.
Hell yes.

This is a picture of Ashley in Mass Effect 2. In case you haven't noticed, she is gorgeous. She doesn't need to have soft facial features or long hair to make that apparent. In fact, strong bold features make her more attractive if you ask me, because she looks like a real person, a soldier.
Here she is in Mass Effect 1, shortly after Eden Prime.

Now, if you ask me. That's beauty incarnate, lips you could kiss for days, pretty eyes and the beginning of a smile. You can clearly see her softer feminine side in this picture and it co-incides with her strong feminine side in the first picture.
Just because she has strong facial structure doesn't mean she's 'masculine', rather I believe that strong facial features are symbolic in our society as images of heroism and bravery. Such things can apply to women or men.
Point is, she is not only fine but she is fiiiiiiiiiiiiiine the way she is. It was a bold idea on Bioware's part that they made the game's leading lady into a character who didn't look like a playboy bunny, instead like a real person. She is attractive just the way she is.
Yeah, okay so the uncanny valley gets her a few times but hey, it happens to most all the females in Mass Effect.

As for Ash's observed masculine features. It really comes down to personal taste. Her personality also plays a role in how she is perceived. She has a strong personality so her appearance takes on those unconscious attributes. She's a no nonsense, strong, determined woman and her appearance matches those characteristics.
She would not be every man's or woman's cup of tea but she is a well developed and beautiful character. She has more character than the other more "feminine" females.

I have a slight dislike for her character and making her hotter would make no difference.

Her jaw is far less square in life than it is in game.

Seriously, I like her just as much as the next guy, but in all of her concept art, or box art she looks like a major BABE, and then in game she looks pretty bland, especially her face, where she has quite a masculine element.
I know its not a big deal and they probably wont change it, hell Im not even sure theyll bring her back in ME3.
but still, unless you really really like her personality, her looks are definitely not gonna entice me to keep her over Liara, Tali or especially Mirandas "genetically enhanced" ... features.
Please don't hate on my appraisal of Ashley's looks, Im not saying shes ugly, just that they could have made her as hot as she is in her art pics and box art. Not to mention with that voice I would have liked her to have a prettier face.
What do you all think?
BiancoAngelo7 could be a better poaster, if he stopped making terrible threads.

As for Ashley... well, she looks great in the CGI trailer for the original Mass Effect: (Miranda does too in the Blur CGI trailer).
I haven't played the original Mass Effect since upgrading to my current HD4770, but I remember that on my old rig there was an unnerving clipping issue with her eyes. I don't mind the face but Ashley has the worst eye animation out of all squad members in both games and it creeps me out. Plus, her hair looks more plastic than the rest, and they're not great too. Not the hairdo, I mean, the way the model and texture look, just fake. Morringan's hair texture would make her far more realistic.
She's still my favorite main female character in Mass Effect, though. Simply because she's the most realistic, character and looks-wise.

And please... don't take this as an hardcore-fan comment. Ash's not my favourite character, but I respect her fanbase and the work that BW did on her, so I still find this... irritating.

It's because Ash is a real, believable, human character.
Liara is a pureblood among a species of alien space babes (regardless of what BioWare says).
Miranda is genetically enhanced to be beautiful by her father (kind of creepy if you ask me), and modelled from a real-life actor, and part of her storyline is that she's supposed to be above average in everything and capable of doing combat wearing skintight catsuits and heels.
And nobody has seen Tali's face, and she has only three digits on each hand. Apparently she has hips.

The variety of characters is one of the best ME's feature.
If you like a character this should mean that you like her more than just for her appearance.
Agreed.

I think Ash is pretty, but one of the things I like about her is that, while beautiful, she has the "normal girl" look, and also looks like a badass soldier that could drop anything in the blink of an eye. Yet it always feels like if she wanted to, she could look like a super model. But that's not what Ash is about, she doesn't need to do that. That's not her job. Hell, she's better than that.
