Seriously, I like her just as much as the next guy, but in all of her concept art, or box art she looks like a major BABE, and then in game she looks pretty bland, especially her face, where she has quite a masculine element.

I know its not a big deal and they probably wont change it, hell Im not even sure theyll bring her back in ME3.

but still, unless you really really like her personality, her looks are definitely not gonna entice me to keep her over Liara, Tali or especially Mirandas "genetically enhanced" ... features. ;)

Please don't hate on my appraisal of Ashley's looks, Im not saying shes ugly, just that they could have made her as hot as she is in her art pics and box art. Not to mention with that voice I would have liked her to have a prettier face.

What do you all think?

What do you all think?

Agreed with both responses. Really shows the level of maturity of someone when they make a topic such as this.

Wow, you're going to pick the two most immature insults towards me in the entire thread and then try an insult me calling me immature? LOL ok there boss.

Welcome back Ulrich, its good to see you dogging posters as usual posting with the sole purpose of starting arguments. You should just change your profile picture to a troll's face and get it over with.

If you actually read my post, I said that Ashley is beautiful but she has some masculine face features, and that I thought it might be interesting to see what other people think, if they agree with me that she could have a more "soft" look for her face. If you want pathetic just look at all the people who took that simple observation and went all feminine rights ballistic and defended Ashley as if she was their real girlfriend.

LOL you even modified Errol Dnamyx's post because he mispelled poster "poaster" when trying to insult me, you must really care about trying to insult me or starting an argument.

Just because you think it's a terrible thread and are miffed that no one jumped on your bandwagon of trying to act superior except for Ulrich the troll doesn't mean that the thread is a terrible one.

I could easily say that your post is a horrible post because it contributes nothing to the discussion, but I didn't because it wouldnt have served any purpose, except to now show you the uselessness and inflamatory nature of your comment.

Your post was equal to walking into a room where someone asks "Do you like strawberry or vanilla ice cream?" and answeing "Your question is horrible". The only difference here is that the internet doesn't provide for a room full of people looking at you awkwardly to show you how hard you fail.

It's just a fact that people like to discuss things that interest them about this game on these forums. Deal with it.

I like her as is.

Although she looked better in ME1, especially because her armor in ME2 is ridiculously bad.

Ahh thank you for proving my previous post correct, especially with the comment you've made in the post after this one.

See, if you actually bothered to read a lot of the posts that I make, you would know you are making baseless accusations because I don't jump on every topic in an attempt to start arguments.

The fact you think people who went feminine rights ballistic as pathetic then it says far more about you than them because clearly you are a fool to think that people wouldn't.

The fact she doesn't look soft, really adds to her character and you are clearly showing that you are just an a-typical hot blooded young male who thinks all women should look soft and girly like. Maybe one of these days you'll grow up and realise that you should see people more for who they are, not what they look like.

As for Ash and my opinion of her... I'll leave that to Billy Joel

Why would every woman in a video game or movie need to be a perfect beauty? I always thought that the more realistic approach of the Mass Effect series, or at least of ME 1, was very refreshing. All those people were no super heroes, and thankfully female Shepard wasn't made to look like just another Lara Croft either. A good game or movie doesn't need that to attract players or viewers. That said, it's certainly nice if there are beautiful women (especially if they are LIs) in the game. And I for one think that Ashley is exactly that: A beautiful woman.

Unfortunately, ME 2 has changed that approach. While there's nothing wrong with the idea of a character who was designed to be beautiful, certain camera angles seem to have been chosen exactly for players who would create a topic such as this. BioWare should have been above that, but unfortunately someone seems to have told them that this was needed.

I personally think that Bioware did it with an intentional and underlying humor. Sure it was fanservice, but I laughed more than I gawked when those moments came about.

But alas, I am derailing a silly thread.

Stop making discussions personal by addressing what you think of the person making the argument rather than addressing the argument itself. If you have something to say to the poster directly, there is a PM feature. That goes for either side.

I think some parts of Bianco's argument have been misconstrued. He's not denigrating Ashley's character, just making an observation purely about her appearance.

@Ulrich

You really need to start using these forums to discuss things Mass Effect and not to try and personally attack people who say or post things you don't agree with.

Again, like I said before, and you again misquoted, I never said Ashley is ugly, I never said fighting for women's rights is pathetic, i only said that I personally thought that she has some pronounced masculine features on her face and that personally I thought it would have been nicer if she had a "softer" look.

If you don't agree with that observation that's fine, but I really don't see why we can't just talk about things we like and dislike about this game without falling into personal attacks and misquotes.

I think ashley looks like a woman, not a girl. I don't see how she looks masculine at all. I personally feel like all you guys are being a bit picky. I have yet to see any women complain about how the male LIs look.

Well I think she's pretty hot when she's sniping, gunning down, headshotting, and delivering shotguns blasts to anyone who corsses Shepard, and her appearance conveys her tough and softer sides before you even get to know her. Ashley Madeline Williams is perfect the way she is.

What are you talking about? She is gorgeous, a natural beauty, plus we never see her out of her uniform, she is always in her work clothes.

Look at Lance Corporal Katrina Hodge of the British army, would you believe she is also beauty queen at first look in her uniform?

Becuase she is.

I happen to love the fact Ash aint treated like most women tend to be in games, and instead Bioware took a more realistic approach to her.

Your right Bianco, I apologise for my more 'personal' comments. As for Ashley, I'll put it to you this way, if every woman in a game had a 'soft' look it would be a bit bland would it not? This is why I said it helps complete her character because she is a hardline soldier of the Alliance. Judging from a fair few of the other posts it would seem I am not the only one who thinks this, so I guess in this instance we agree to disagree, do we not?

No actually I would agree with you there, Ashely on her own makes me wish she had softer features. But when seen in the big picture like you said, then yeah even I wouldnt want her to be stereotype hot like the other characters, cuz then she would lose her unique look, even if its not my favorite kind of look.

It's worthwhile noting that she obviously has make-up on in that picture (blush, eyeshadow, mascara etc.), so it's a safe bet that that picture is a well-planned, posed shot. :P Catch her just after she's woken up or at the end of a hard day's work and she probably doesn't look half as good.

Going back to the OT though, I think Ashley looks fine. She's actually rather attractive by my standards, but it's her personality that turns me off.

Thats not what I was going for, my point was we dont see Ash out of uniform, with her hair down, make up ect. And she still looks attractive in her uniform. I should have found a better picture though  I admit.
