Spoilers:

I really liked the comic. It had a good feel to it. I know some people complained about the Turian women, but the concept isn't bad IMO and is believable, nothing to get upset over.

Also, people wonder about how the Turians and humans understood each other. It would have been nice to have been mentioned, but I think we can fill in that blank for ourselves. For me, since this story takes place near the end of First Contact War, it's not unreasonable to think that humans:

1) Captured turians and analyzed the universal translator they had on them

2) With the translator at hand, and torturing captured turians to talk, deciphered their language as one would decipher code and made their own version to translate into english

And vice versa, where the Turians could have done the same with humans.

Only thing I really didn't like is Illusive Man's real name: Jack... how boring.

All in all, I really enjoyed the comic and am eagerly awaiting part 2. Keep them coming BW!

I've searched repeatedly, iTunes and the site, and can't find a real link to the digital copy. The Digital site is not debuted yet.

Hey Snowarc: that's all well and good for those who either have an Apple device or use Itunes or want a print version. However, your advice is useless to those wanting to buy digital and read it on their PC sans Itunes or otherwise non-Apple hardware/software combos. The problem some people are referring to is this:

Dark Horse Digital is supposed to debut this month, and Chris' announcement specifically mentions said service.

It has not yet debuted.

But the comic is out now.

Spot the problem?

i dont use Itunes however it seems the Digital comics for Dark horse on there site ..That Feature isnt up yet :/

I think it will only be available via Dark Horse's digital store, which has yet to launch. I've been checking the DH's digital comics site and they went from 'coming january 2011' to coming soon. SO who knows.

I liked the first issue, really liked it besides its little cliches and disappointiments. It adds a lot to the lore, contrary to redemption.

SPOILERS

Firts Contact War

Occupation of Shanxi

Turian Female - bad design, but was good to finally see it. And indication that they'll show up in ME3?

General Williams

Name of the Illusive Man (disappointing, but it's there)

Plot is fine.

Assuming that Jack Harper is his real name, it does have a John Smith quality to it, so it could be an alias. He probably has hundreds of them. If he's going to check into a hotel room with a celebrity supermodel or a MILFy asari matriach (see LOTSB), he can't check in as TIM. I think the novels say that he gave up his true identity when he left earth.

Like Cancer Man with the X-Files (it never said that Charles Spender was his real name, it said it was one of 100 aliases) or the Joker (no civilian identity, but uses aliases like Joseph Kerr, Johnny Trape, and Jack Napier).

Which is exactly why it's perfect for his real name. He was nothing special before the Mars ruins were discovered, as we learn from Retribution:

In those days he had been an ordinary man, a typical citizen of Earth's upper class--wealthy, comfortable, naïve

He shouldn't have some distinctive name. He should have an "everyman" name. It also goes well with his view that "Cerberus is humanity", because, of course, in a rather real sense, Cerberus is TIM.

The best thing there is to the book - covers. Inside art is (I find it -) not that impressive. Background doesnt hold, bad shading, candy colours. Characters hang in the void - lack of proper background. Action uninspiring and full of WTF moments. I could go on on the art but I'll stop it right there.

Script is decent and interesting enought to go through the comic.

With all the reference, photoghraphy and internet it still makes me wonder why artists still make mistakes with character placement, backgrounds and so on. Laziness?

There are indeed a lot of little WTF moments, but there is one BIG, inexcusable WTF moment: when Jack Harper and Ben Hislop fire "both "barrels" of their guns! Somebody tell Omar Francia already that the "second barell" is not a barell at all!!!

Do you guys know if Evolution will also be released in a full packet (i.e. volumes 1-4 together) like it was with Redemption before?
Because I would rather wait and bought them all together than one every month.
Anyone? :)

Dark Horse digital just sent out an e-mail stating that their digital comic initiative is currently delayed due to factors beyond their control. So no comic available digitally yet...

I think it's fine that they have smaller fringes. Lionesses don't have manes, lots of male birds tend to look more "fabulous" than the females, etc., etc.

I agree. Since their features have been established as avian, I think they went the right way. They still retain enough characterstics to look unmistakably Turian. I really don't see the need for the deconstruction or they "they it f'd up" attitude. What were they supposed to look like? The same but a different colour? Fatter? Boobs & lipstick?

Why wouldn't both barrels on TIMs M6 Carnifex fire? What's the other barrel for? As for Hislop's M8 Avenger - yeah that was an oversight. One I didn't notice until you mentioned it. I'm willing to let it go

Looks like one of the theories RE: TIM's eyes was right on the money. ;)
