I'm counting on amazon.co.uk to made one of their usual great deal for players.

DA2 (PC) for exemple is at only 25£ brand new (signature edition of cause).
With shippment, it will cost me around 33€
At that price piracy is NO excuse.

I hope they will try to offer the best price for new copy of ME3 as well.

Thats where I ordered myself. God bless Amazon.

I would imagine ME3 will be pretty much the same on there to pre-order.

Ok so I just ran $60 through a currency convertor and it equals €45.67.

Now Im living in Ireland and we have always paid €50 odd for new PC titles so $60 doesnt seem that hefty tbh.

Even compared to this the Amazon prices are great Id recommend it to anybody who wants their games at good fair prices.

All the more reason people from poorer economies will continue to pirate games. They're already overpriced in smaller countries compared to the US, while (often) without having the option to return, switch, receive support, download DLCs etc.

I'll wait to see exactly how much it'll be on my home market, but if it's yet another Activision-type ridiculous price, I sure won't be heading down the store to play ME3.

Oh well, you probably won't be playing that many games from now on then. Just been looking at the Gamestop site and there is a fair number of mainstream new PC games coming out next year that are $59.99.

I guess some of you don't realise that prices generally rise for 'new' things over years.

I am willing to pay for quality, but sorry Mass Effect 2 full of bugs and is still a lot not fixed. For bugs and errors I do not want to pay good money. This is honestly. I do not want to pay for a stripped-down game. Must be quality and I'll pay.

No it's not full of bugs. There are some but not that many, certainly less than many other PC and console games and none crippling.

You sound like someone justifying why he pirated the game but what you show is one of the three main reasons (the other two being intel's crapics, eh graphics and MS' "support" of PC gaming) why the PC gaming market is in trouble.
No matter how good a game the idiots and ****s will always find a justification why they are "allowed" to just steal it (it's stealing if you'd have bought it otherwise). ME2 took a recommendable approach to DRM, don't make them regret it and do a Ubisoft.

And on those $60. Generally retailers feel less bound to the MSRP for PC games than for consoles where the platform owners will suddenly have "supply issues" if a retailer is too cheap. Unfortunately that isn't the case for most online retailers which is why you should just google for the cheapest brick and mortar store and let them send it to you. Those 2 days of shipping won't kill you and you'll easily save $20.

That is fine. But most PC games are just ****ty console ports with poor user interface, graphics etc.
I wish they at least made a proper PC version if they rise the price.

Ah yes, because retailers and publishers should not adjust their prices to compensate for a lackluster economy. They should, instead, just "suck it up" and keep the price low - who cares if it means they have to cut budgets (and possibly staff) right?

I do love Mass Effect, but unless it's a CE there's absolutely no way I'm forking out $60 for the PC version. I'll pay $60 for TESV on PC before I'll pay $60 for a standard version of ME3.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

Yeah man, that extra 10$ really does ruin lives. This kind of **** is absolutely ridiculous. Here in Australia it's about $80-$90 for PC games, and our dollar is on par with the American dollar. Don't be such a goddamn tight ass.

If you don't like it, then don't buy it. There's really nothing else to say on the topic... Our money decides which games we support - There's no point debating whether or not ME3 is "ripping off" gamers by upping it to $60. If that number doesn't satisfy your liking, then don't pay for it.

That attitude will get you nowhere. If people will just settle for this, the company will do it again and again and in no time all other companies will do the same.

10 dollars may not look like a big deal, but if you buy other games that are 10 dollars more expensive, you'll quickly notice the difference.

I can understand OP.

No offense to anyone who doesn't like 60$ pc games, but you're going to have very, very few options in the future.

Truthfully, this is good for PC gaming. If PC gaming is profitable enough, it might attract all those AAA developers and publishers that abandoned in it the past decade.

Damn, it's not even out now! People, start saving up for this game now! It will be out in about 12 months. Cheer up! If I were you, I would rather wait until Oct/Nov '11 to pre-order the game. I want to know more about this new game first.

I'd say you can blame Call of Duty: Black ops for the increase.  There were a lot of reports that showed they were testing the waters to see if people would pay a higher price point for PC games.  People did, so now you can expect PC games at a higher price point.

Seriously? Complaining about a game being 60$ as opposed to 50$?
Really?
Disregard the fact it's still too early and the price will most likely go down before release, but complaining about a 10$ difference as a make-or-break case just seems... weird, to say the least.
Especially taking into account that where I live 60€ (that's 78$ btw) is the average price of a normal game, with the CE's being 70€+.

To Da_Lion_Man, games are getting more expensive to make, if the price tag remains the same, companies will make fewer profits which can lead to them closing. Since you're registered here, I doubt that's something you'd like to see happen to BioWare, no? Mind you, usually I'm a front liner protesting about price increases, but a 10$ increase isn't that much and when only ten more dollars each individual pays for their game can make or break a company that has earned my full support, I'm more than happy to contribute.

I can't say this price increase sits easy with me either and I am still deciding whether to buy or wait for a price drop.  I don't necessarily have a problem with paying $60 for a game.  I do have a problem with paying the SAME price as console gamers for a game.

The price for games on the console include a $10 royalty fee to the maker of the console.  So if you buy Mass Effect 3 on the Xbox 360 then $10 of what you pay goes straight to MS and likewise with the PS3 version Sony gets $10 for every copy sold.

The PC has no platform holder and there is NO royalty fee which is why all PC games have been $10 cheaper.  Now they have raised the price to console levels I have to ask myself just exactly why should we be expected to pay the same price as console users when they have to pay $10 to their console manufacturer ?

So right now there is no way I am paying full price for ME 3, I will wait till the game approaches the price PC games should be which is at least $10 less than the console version.

Pfft. I don't care what the standard version of the game costs. I'm buying the ubercollector's edition anyways after I save up my pennies from the couch.

Oh my god, $60? How can anyone afford this?

Oh wait, by saving $5 a month for the next year. Man, that's tough.

It isn't a question of "how can anyone afford this ?" I can easily afford to pay $60.  The question is why are PC gamers being charged the same price as console gamers when there are EXTRA costs with the console version that are not present with the PC version.

I have no problem with paying $60 for a game, but if the cost of a game comes to $60 then surely the console version should be $70  because they have extra costs involving the console royalty.

As a Canadian, (we pay +$10 on all games) and a console player (another $10) I paid nearly $90 CAD for ME2 CE and expect to get the ME3 CE as well. There are only a few games that I don't wait for deals at EB or GameStop to buy (got a brand new Falout 3 GOTY for $40 at a GameStop) and the ME and DAO franchises are two of them.

With all of the hard work, long hours and talent it takes to create a game, you ought to be lucky you're getting it for $60. Stop complaining.

They are selling a product in a competitive market place, I am a customer why should I be thankful they are "selling me a product" ?  I am certainly not thankful some one sold me a fridge, I am not full of joy because someone sold me a TV.  So I fail to see why I should be "thankful" that they are selling me a product and wanting my money.

The way I see it EA is price gouging PC gamers, no one has bothered to comment on the fact that console games are $60 and at least $10 goes straight to the console manufacturer yet PC gamers are now being asked to pay the same price and there is NO console royalty fee involved with the PC version.

So no I am not "thankful" that EA are price gouging PC gamers, it is pretty obvious EA are trying to rip PC gamers off when you consider CD Prokekt are selling "The Witcher 2" for the usual standard PC price of $50.  Not to mention the fact that EA are on record as having said development costs have actually peaked and are likely to drop.  It is pretty obvious EA is trying to take PC gamers for a ride here.

$59.99 is the standard retail on every PC game I've seen in recent years, not counting individual retailer discounts which publishers have no control over. I don't know what you're freaking out about.

There is a fundamental difference between the consoles and pc.
Consoles: Closed platform, so you pay more due to roalties.
PC: Completely open platform so you dont have to pay more.

Charging PC gamers 60 bucks not only makes me sick to my stomach, but I sure as hell never thought Bioware would allow such a scam. Yeah yeah EA is calling the shots, I know, but this is just sad. No way in hell I'm paying the same for a pc game as a console game. There are NO royalties to be payed when releasing a pc game. If you pull up a "Games for Windows" excuse, then dont get that useless tag on your game.

Horrible. Just horrible.

Oh my God yes. That extra 10 dollars is going to cause so many more people to pirate. In fact, every single person who pirates the game most definitely would not have pirated it had it been 10 dollars cheaper.

Get over it and be glad you don't live in the UK. Or if you do, then... sorry about that.

They haven't even announced anything about the game yet. For all we know that price could be a placeholder price. Besides, getting a game for $59.99 is good compared to what the prices are in some other countries.

Oh sheesh, $10?!  You are complaining about $10?  This is like people complaining about the $2 DLC for ME2 when it costs that much for a bottle of soda!  And the game doesn't come out until NOVEMBER 2011!

Here's a thought: save up those extra $10 over the course of the next 11 months.  That's less than a dollar a month so you can afford a $60-ME3 instead of a $50-ME3.  Is it really so hard to save an extra $10?

People will pirate games just because they want to.  The game could be worth a PENNY ($0.01) and people will still pirate it (true story, the game was part of a charity to raise money and they only took donations for people to get the game).  Relative countries' economic conditions are kinda useless as an argument when the thievery gets that bad in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.  And I'm certain if people in those countries could afford to buy a high-def television/computer screen with a video game console/computer and all the upkeep and maintenance associated with owning them, they can afford the price of a video game.
