Its been four days and still no word from tech support. I have tried to play this game twice now, and both times my saves became corrupted after 6-8 hours of gameplay. It doesn't appear to matter how many saves I make, all of them corrupt simultaneously. I am extremely frustrated as this game is completely worthless to me at this point. Why should I play this when I will just lose my long hours of work eventually. Is there ever going to be a patch for the 360, or did I buy a $60 coaster?

Are all 15 saves, in your series of multiple save games for each character play-through, corrupted? (You are practicing safe-save proceedures, right? Save after every fight, before opening any door, and before any fast-travel, in a rolling series of 15 saves. Then if one is corrupted, you only lose a few minutes play-time. But if all your 15 saves are corrupted, that would be a serious bug.

I didn't try 15...is that the magic number? I had 4 saves, and all of them corrupted at the same time. I didn't really think having more would make any difference.

That's bad news. Was the sequence of events, that led to your corrupted saves, the same each time? Can you pinpoint what may have gone wrong? Or was it random?
Jeez, I don't look forward to that. I'm going to have to go nuclear on the safe-save practices then: Copy a good save to a separate plug-in memory unit at the end of every day / play session.

That is probably what I am going to end up doing. There really wasn't a pattern. Both times I was sort of in the mages tower. The first time I was in the dream world. Saved normally and when I went to load the next day, all my saves wouldn't work. Second game, didn't get quite as far. Died in a fight, and when it went to load, all files corrupted. Its unbelievable annoying. Definitely try to back your saves up.

I have noticed the exact same thing on the PC version.
I started a new game and ran though the origin and into the trial to be
a warden. I ran through the whole trial, came back to town, saved, and
left the game. Them immediately loaded the same game. 5 seconds later,
instant crash!
I refuse to believe that its my graphics card.

All of my save games on the 360 were corrupted simultaneously as well; I lost over 50 hours that I put into my character. Needless to say I'm furious at Bioware. With the number of bugs and problems evident in the shipped product, I have zero confidence that they will fix the game to recover our characters. Backing up to an MU is an option for a second try (I'd at least like to see the end of the story but I'm just going to burn through and not do any side quests) and then I'm selling this game ASAP. My take-away from this is that I'll save money and frustration by not buying Mass Effect 2 next year.

So my game is lost too? I have over 50 hours into my character and tonite I try to play a little bit but all my saves are corrupted. I have 7 saves all for the same character and they're all corrupted. If there is no fix for this bug, then I am done with the game. What's the point of pouring countless hours into it if it's just going to quit working halfway through? Oh yeah, I'm on 360 as well.

Just wondering how you guys exit out of the game... I noticed when exiting to the loading screen the game checks your saves.. Maybe if you just switch off your box straight from the game or simply exit onto the dashboard from in game it could corrupt the saves. I don't know. I have 75 hours in and 31 rotating saves.. (it only allows for 31 saves.) I read a few reports of file corruption and have been paranoid so I've been backing up saves onto the internal 250mb drive. But I have yet to encounter any corrupted save files.

I'm in a similar situation. 4 characters. Main character has 8 saves and my latest out of them all corrupted the other day, comes up with a message saying "The save file appears to be damaged and cannot be loaded." Luckily my autosave which was second on the list WORKED! played a bit more again, manually saved and...
Haven't checked the rest of my saves but the quitting/turning off the console once saved does make sense to me as I remember on that corrupted save I did turn off straight after saving. I normally save, exit game to main menu, turn off or exit to xbox dashboard.
Not feeling too comfortable anyways about playing the game more as I do also feel the same as these guys. At the moment there are far too many bugs for the 360 alone, with this being a major bug that effects the ability to play the game, this is a poor over see on both EA's and BioWare's side. I just hope they can do something about it, otherwise like jchapman said "My take-away from this is that I'll save money and frustration by not buying Mass Effect 2 next year."

When I'm done playing, after I save, I just shut off my 360, no exiting to the main menu first. I doubt that has anything to do with it, because all my save files are corrupted, not just the one I saved to right before turning off the 360.
Edit: Oh yeah, if they don't fix this in a reasonable amount of time, I'm definitely not picking up Mass Effect 2. Granted, Dragon Age just came out a couple weeks ago, but this is a pretty serious bug.

I'm having the same issue. All my save files have become corrupted and I always exit out all the way before shutting the xbox down. I'm not buying mass effect 2 if this is what they are going to put out.
UPDATE: After doing some more research and talking with a few friends who also have the xbox version I have come to the conclusion that the problem lies in doing the money glitch in Redcliffe. If you do it enough and sell too many of the crystals to the same vendor your save files become corrupted. I hope this helps others who have had the same issue. It's just too bad that Bioware made it so difficult to accumulate money to buy the more expensive items in the game.

I'm trying to remain hopeful, but... essentially, no one at Bioware has even commented on this so far. Or from what I've read, anyway. No word on if it's due to that money glitch, or if it's a random thing. I'd just like an honest answer. 45 hours in, and it's all gone. Not a lot compared to some, but still.
Quick question: Did any of you abuse the known experience/money glitches? It's a popular theory that it's what is causing the corrupt saves.

I've had a play around with this idea of abusing the money glitch as I happen to be in a weird position with my previous game saves fine with the glitch being used, but any new ones past this autosave I have come corrupt.
Continued again from the autosave and didn't abuse the money glitch, I'm on the last recruitment with the dwarfs and when walking around I've had a few autosaves and finally after doing a bit of work I made a manual save. Quitted to main menu. Exited to the Xbox dashboard. Watched a film. Turned off the Xbox. Had dinner. Came back. Resumed play. It worked! Not sure for how long but that does seem to have not met the fate of the other saves I've previously made.
So conclusion for the moment, the abuse of the glitch seems to the culprit. Though the use of the glitch or amount of abusing is still to be measured if this is the case.
My next step will be trying to save over those corrupt to see if they are corrupt or EA/BioWare's doings are in order. If the save on top of the corrupt ones work then there's no reason for them to be corrupt accept the online connection blocking the use of them saves. But without the connection the use of the saves are useless anyways.

I abused the money glitch... sadly. Now, if I enter redcliff village and then save that file is automatically corrupted. Doesn't matter what I do afterwords. As long as I NEVER enter redcliff village again with my main character I am ok with my saves. What I'm wondering is if I go into redcliff and buy as many of the crystals back as I can and then destroy them if that would fix the issue. I'm only worried about it because I really want to complete sten's quest.

I have had a similar issue. I managed to play a complete game of 50+ hours without issue. It was my second time around that things went pear-shaped.
I got about 40 hours in and found that my four most recent saves, including an auto save, were corrupted. I have not used any exploits. I haven't even looked for any. I had all of the downloadable content in place since before I started the first time round.
I deleted the four corrupted saves via System Memory on the Xbox and started again with the save that still worked. Any subsequent save in new slots was automatically corrupted.
I have been saving and loading regularly throughout both my games, without issue, until about 3 or four days ago. My guess is that a patch was automatically downloaded to my Xbox and that has caused a conflict on how to handle new save files.
It would be nice for someone to at least advise they are looking into this and acknowledge this is an issue.

you know, now that I think about it i didn't have any trouble at all until I hooked my box online temporarily. Before that I could save and load in redcliff with impunity. I wonder if singularity69 is right on this one.

So basically instead of Bioware/EA releasing a patch to fix the Redcliffe unintended free money faulty programming, they (I'm assuming) release a patch to their servers to corrupt our saves when we log in, if we take advantage of said faulty programming.
Nice. As much as I love Dragon Age, if they don't uncorrupt our saves and release a patch like normal developers do, I probably wont be playing Dragon Age anymore. There's more games out there like Modern Warfare 2 I could be playing that wont take away over 50 hours of my life by corrupting my save. That's not a threat, just my thoughts.
I'll be checking on this thread regularly in hopes of someone responding with: "Yay! They patched the game and I got my characters back!" because I do love Dragon Age, it just hurts to pour a lot of time into a game only to have a lazy developer or publisher lock me out of MY saves. Until then I got some other games to play.

all xbox 360 save files get corrupted after you receive an xbox live ban! If you not banned then i have no idea why.

if this is how EA/bioware wants to play it then im gonna go trade in my DA copy and switch my preorder off of MASS EFFECT 2 and trade in MASS EFFECT 1
lol, if they are corrupting our saves with some silent-patch then thats abunch of crap.
i can play with live connected, but when i try playing offline it says i dont have my preorder items downloaded and it wont load the save

... It's got nothing to do with being banned. This issue is just occurring during normal play of the game.
Now my hunch was that EA/BioWare patched the saves to be corrupt and it seems my theory was right in a way. After my long explanation previously I have now re-saved over a previous corrupt save and guess what!
...It works! lol.
It seems that if I resume anything along the lines of that glitch (so far it seems to be this way) then my saves are corrupt. Otherwise I'm working fine.
I read this a lot but for an official forum for reporting issues or discussion, BioWare should be making some comments to at least say hi or even help us with what is going on.
In my opinion, yes I abused the glitch but stuff like that should of been tested before they are released and even if they missed it we shouldn't be punished for something we have found and used to our favour.
