I don't get why people say that murder knife makes no sense. An adventurer having a practical knife for cutting things, carving food and whatever.... makes perfect sense to me. I really don't see the PC carving up a roasted chicken for dinner with his greatsword.

It's the knife they used for kill animation when you decide to kill someone during conversation. The PC didn't use the weapon they had equipped but pulled a knife from somewhere.
