Greetings,

I'm pretty new at the toolset and scripting so I have a few questions :)
I followed these tutorial here (http://social.biowar...rounds_tutorial) to create my own background for my own module.

But if I just create one background like in Awakening (Background: Grey Warden) then my dwarf can pick
the mage class, and thats my problem. The dwarf shouldn't be able to be a mage.

In Awakening i found a 2da file called classes_filter_gxa.gda, which manage exactly what I'm looking for.

But I don't know how to use this in my scripts :)  Can someone gimme a hint?

Thanks a lot and Marry X-Mas :)

PS:
There is also a good tutorial about adding new classes (http://social.biowar..._class_Tutorial) but they always extend only the "Single Player" of DAO, but i would like to create my own module. Is there a big difference or what is important about to know?

All you should need to do with classes_filter_gxa is put it in your addin's module override; I haven't tested it with a stand-alone module, but it works with my class mod's Awakening version, so I don't see why it wouldn't. For adding new base classes in a stand-alone module, the class tutorial should work pretty much as is; feel free to PM me if you need help with it.

Thanks a lot, was a good idea to copy just the "classes_filter_gxa" in the override folder.
I also created a classes_filter.2da, but unfortunately doesn't work in my case.
is there any logfile from the engine to see/check what's going on with your module?

You define the legal race-class combinations in background.xls on the background_defaults 2DA sheet. The chargen_preload 2DA sheet needs to have exactly the same combinations. That's how you stop a dwarf being a mage, for example.

yes but this only works if you create a background for mages, if you have just one background, you can't exclude the dwarf from being a mage. thats why bioware had to create that classes_filter.gda
