People need to realize that this option won't take away anything from anyone who doesn't want to use it, and will add the possibility for PC users to use a controller to experience that awesome feeling when the controller vibrates in sync with every shot you fire and explosions near you.
Its pretty epic. Just try ME2 on PS3 or 360, its one of the few (if not only) things that the PC version doesn't have compared to the console version.

I don't find it necessary, as aiming with a mouse is much more comfortable and easy than using a controller.
But if it's not a big deal to add it, why not?

You can play both mass effect games on the PC with a controler provided you have a program such as xpadder or pinnacle Game Profiler. What these programs do is map mouse and keyboard controls to your controler. It is not ideal and has no force feedback option but it is better than nothing.
Thanks to everyone for signing the petition. If it is not obvious I am hell bent on making this happen. I am going to post a new thred with the petition link. Maybe it's overkill but I think it will get more peoples attention. I have also posted on other boards (dragon age, etc) where I found others who would also like controler support in their PC games.

lmao a controller over a high DPI gaming mouse designed for use in tournaments? What are you smoking bro? Even a simple dell mouse on a PC does way better with shooting than a friggin controller...
Do not want. And yeah, I ignored your warning in your OP.

I rather have better PC specific support. Change the menus to work better for the PC, give use more graphical customizations, better mouse sensitivity, etc...

I can't believe you are complaning about how the game plays already with a mouse and keyboard. I never had a problem with it. I just want to play with my controler. And by the way. All those who seem to think the mouse is so much better than a controler maybe you should try it first. I played through the game like 4 times already with my wireless xbox 360 controler and pinnacle game profiler and I noticed no difference with the exception of the game being more fun IMO.

I found out something interesting. I viewed a thred not so long ago about people who didn't like that the spacebar had 3 controls mapped to it. This is the same guy who went nuts with hate when people suggested that bioware add controler support for Mass Effect 3. The reason that 3 controls are mapped to the scacebar is because bioware used the controls from the 360 controler and simply mapped them to the keyboard and mouse. The A button on the controler has the same function. It would be much harder for bioware to devide this onc command into 3 seperate commands than it would be to add controler support to Mass Effect 3,
If we are all so worried about resourses and money and time for bioware I think I have a solution. Lets say it takes $1000 and a days work for bioware to add controler support (i know it's probably more like 1 hour and $100 but as anyone who has set up their PC to use a controler with Mass Effect 1/2 knows there is alot of testing that needs to be done before a profile is deemed "good") Why not take the money out of the advertising budget. Like seriously, do you even need to advertise this game?
Maybe sell the Mass Effect brand like they did with black ops. Who knows how many times I saw that jeep commercial. Over a billion in sales! Of course it was pirated 4 million times too but I'm sure that isn't keeping them awake at night while they sleep on their beds stuffed with cash. Oh and the PC version was playable out of the box with a controler, and in my opinion it even played better with the controler as I tried the K/M setup first and didn't care for it much.
The only 2 issues I see with this is bioware is lazy, And PC fanboys who don't own couches because they live in a small room or dorm and blew all their money on crap. The rest of us who like games and have lives and friends, kids, wives, would really like to not have to sit at a desk to play the game.
Mass Effect on average takes around 40 hours to finnish 100%. Were talking about casual gaming, not speed gaming. Sitting at a desk for 40 hours for one game is just not healthy.
Do not tell me to get a console, I have one. I can play any game any way I want to. I have that right, so do you. Almost all computers have keyboards and mice, alot less have controlers but that does not mean that it should not be important, the way people interact with a game is the most important aspect. If the controls suck, no one can play it. I'm not saying the controls for Mass Effect suck. I like them alot.
All cars have breaks, but that doesn't mean that they don't need ABS or a parking break.
They say that ME2 for PS3 is running on the Mass Effect 3 engine. That means that the engine is already done and controler support is included. There is absoulutly no excuse to not include this support for controlers in the PC version of Mass Effect 3.
Now if you will excuse me I need to go back tp playing NBA 2K11. That also works out of the box with a controler. You see a theme here?
As always please sign the petition

The gamepad will never replace the mouse and keyboard as a control mechanism for PC gaming, nor some gimmick motion sensor controls. If you think they are comparable I'd like to see you jump in to any FPS and try and kill people with a gamepad, have fun.
As for sitting in front of a computer for 40 hours being unhealthy, what do you think office workers do week after week for the job? They'd spend a hell of a lot more than 40 hours in front of a computer do you think they are all unhealthy?
I'd much rather sit in front of my 30" samsung monitor and play ME2 maxed out at higher resolution than some cheap HDTV can do with the precision of mouse and keyboard control any day.
As for controller support, you already said you've played through the game using a controller mod so I don't see the issue, that's one of the other advantages of PC gaming is the ability to mod the game like that. I don't see any reason for Bioware to waste resources implementing an inferior control method into the PC version of the game.

No...Just no. PC games are meant to be played with keyboard and mouse...It's way more easier(in RPGs RTS etc.) to play than with controller.
I think what is great about PC games is that I can play them however I want. I don't see why impose something over players, specially for a multiplatform game like Mass Effect. I have my PC hooked on a TV and I use my PS2 controller to play several games in it.

Also, xpadder kinda sucks for ME, it isn't entirely perfect. I'd like to play ME games with a controller because then I'd be able to play on my large television instead of using my smaller monitor.
I don't see why oppose to this. The controller scheme will be already prepared for 360/PS3 versions, all Bioware would have to do is add simple controller support for PC.
It won't stop anyone from playing with keyboard/mouse and it won't make keyboard/mouse worse. It is just a matter of preference. Some games I play on keyboard/mouse, others I like to play on my larger TV, which I can't with keyboard/mouse unless I sit way too close to the TV.

I've often wondered why Mass Effect PC doesn't support controllers.
Seems fine to me. If you're more comfortable with a controller, use one.

The point of having native support for controlers in the PC version of Mass Effect 3 is so that we do not have to make "mods" to do so. Mods take alot of time and fine tuning to make, alot more time than it takes for bioware to just add it to the game itself.
As for playing FPS with a controler I DO! ALL THE TIME, IT'S GREAT. I have played through modern warfare 2 and black ops with my controler and found it better than the K/M setup.
The guy who tried Xpadder, I have a solution, it's not perfect but it's much better than Xpadder. Try pinnicle game profiler. there are profiles already made for ME1/2. The profile for Mass Effect 1 isn't so great as you have to be holding down the LT when you open your powers menu to select your powers but the profile for Mass Effect 2 is really good once you turn off the lame force feedback. If you try it you'll see what I mean.
And yes, sitting in front of a computer for 40 hours or more at your job is unhealthy, there are god knows how many studies that prove this. Any of you have carple tunnel? How about extreem eye strain?
right now I'm playing NBA 2K11 and that game is so bright if I play for more than a few hours a day my eyes start to hurt. That has nothing to do with controlers, just saying.
Anyways as always, sign the petition if you want to play with a controler on the PC version.

Personally, I think that if you want to play with a controller, you should buy a console, but as there seems to be no harm in including it, I don't mind.
As long as I can still freely assign my keyboard & mouse buttons, i'm game.

Yup, we who would like bioware to add controler support do not wish the k/m to be changed at all. We just want support for our controlers.
