I didn't want to post in the main thread about this, because I don't exactly want to get major spoilers.....but I figured I still couldn't post it in the other no spoilers forum because there would still be small spoilers at least. (that make sense?)

I'm in a bit of a pickle....right now I'm talking to the lady of the forest and she's asking me to bring Zathrain to her......the thing is my main character is a Dalish elf....but at the same time I'm starting to sympathize with the werewolves a bit.

It's annoying because I know Zathrain did a really bad thing....but I may have to kill the werewolves if I want to keep all my team together. I want to get to the end of the game with as many team mates as possible.

I don't want to kill Zathrain....but I still want him to lift the curse. Basically what I'm asking is,

Is it possible to:

~ Have Zathrain lift the curse
~ Have no more innocent Elves/Werewolves be killed
~ Keep companions from leaving or at least keeping their anger to a minimum.
~ Basically have everyone happy at the end of it

Are my hopes a bit naive? :(

I don't usually like asking for help on games like this....but I'm feeling strangely passionate about this mission and want to see it turn out as best it possibly can. :?

Zathrian dies if you lift the curse. Your companions won't disapprove (if you have the right companions that is),

The answer is YES on all counts.  Here's how:

Talk to Zathrian and convince him to come with you to talk to the Lady of the forest.  Zathrian will readily come down with you anyway, but his plan is to force the Lady into Witherfang's form and slay her.  Get him to agree to talk first and promise you'll defend him unless he attacks first.

He'll agree and during the second meeting with the Lady (now with Zathrian), when Swiftrunner says that Zathrian is not there to talk, he will say that he is but sees little point in it.

At some point, Zathrian will say, "Do what you have come here to do Grey Warden or get out of my way."  At this point you can:

Side with the wolves.
Side with Zathrian
Take neither side and say, "I won't help you do this."  Alistair if present will say, "We are doing what is right here, no matter what."

Zathrian will say, "Then you DIE with them and he will attack you and in cut-scene phantom time mass paralyze everyone else in the room but your party."

You now have to fight and defeat Zathrian and a bunch of Sylvans, Shades, and Demons he has also summoned in miracle pocket time.

Hint:  If you have Alistair or another templar, hit the room with a "Cleanse Aura."  Do this just as your mage is hitting Zathrian with a mana-clash.

The combination should take Zathrian down to half hit-points immediately while unparalzying all the wolves and witherfang.

At this point it's cake.  You don't have to do anything else.  The wolves will happily finish the job....but they won't kill Zathrian.  The Lady stops them.

After Zathrian has been defeated you can now convince Zathrian that it is time for him to end the curse.

After some convincing (but no explicit persuade checks), Zathrian will end the curse and die which also ends the existance of the Lady, and the Wolves become human once more....and you everyone wins and you get approval from almost every companion (and even Morri doesn't dissaprove).  You may then go back to the Dalish Camp where Keeper Lanaya pledges her support in light of the ancient treaty.

Everything seems perfect about that plan.....except Wynne doesn't have Mana Clash yet...

Alistair has Cleanse Aura though, so at least I can get the werewolves help.

edit: I just finished the battle, it was weirdly easy. Seriously I don't know if it even lasted a minute....maybe it was because I freed Witherfang.

Yeah, if you have no way to unparalyze the wolves it can be a bit touchy. If you do, though, it's pretty well cake. I like to bring Dog and just sic him on Zathrian with overwhelm, particularly if I don't have mana clash.

Ding, Ding, ding.  You got it in one.  With witherfang and the wolves on "overwhelm", poor Zathrian doesn't have a chance.  It's a good reason to bring Alistair unless you are a templar yourself.
