An inside source is an inside source, despite whatever else you choose to call it. Saying that you have one means that you know this or that information is correct, not that you guess it is correct. So, Priestly calling it an "interesting guess" does not make sense, unless he meant it as a euphemism for "you are lying" or "your source is lying" or "your source is not as "inside" as you think."

I was just pointing this out, not being "touchy." And it is not insiginificant to me even if it is to you.

It is insignificant. You know how many people I knew growing up that had "Uncles at Nintendo" or were told by a source that there was a "Secret Room in game X"? Many. Saying you have a source and actually having one are entirely different. This is the same as the guy who pretended to be a Bioware dev on 4chan, and it's just as believable. You got up in arms for a person who I'd like to note wasn't even posting here nor likely even looks at these forums. He either lied or his daddy lied to him.

It is false as the british soldier talks about sheperd not unless he likes to talk about himself in third person. You also see shepherd on the normady looking at earth and it being destroyed.

Nobody has stated that the guy in big ben is shepard...:?

Doubt me all you want. I admit that sometimes I obfuscate things (slight pause while most of you look that up on google) either for marketing reasons or for my own amusement, so doubting is just fine and to be expected.

Plus it makes the "I told you so" even tastier when it comes.

Haven't seen such a contrived use of that word since Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines...Are you looking things up in a synonym dictionary as you go along? HA!

Also: I feel a sense of amusement that native english-speaking people (I presume) had to google "obfuscate"...

It sounds cool and all, but anything that does not come from THIS website is questionable. I mean come on, we chop it up with the developers of the game lol. This would probably be the first place one would know if something like that were true.

Trailer indicates that Earthborn will have one extra line, unless s/he forgets like Sole Survivor did in ME2. :P

Wasn't this the same guy who said he had a source in Bioware who told him that the VGA trailer reveal was going to be for a ME2 DLC that grew into an expansion pack?

Not sure if I believe it either but I find it interesting.

My only thought is 'several years in the future' and that the reapers must be reeaaally slow. Or flying in dramatic slowmo much like Shep likes to jump

The distance is huge. The nearest galaxy is within 50 kiloparsecs right? Sovereign stated that they should be somewhere within this area. If they traveled in light speed they would take around ~25000-160000 years. If they arrive on earth in like 2 years using their magical FTL speed... well it is still amazing.

Another possibility is the citadel relay. If they arrived using that relay... we can expect that all that the citadel will be already destroyed when they arrive on earth.

Oy vey! I wasn't defending anyone or attacking anyone. I was just pointing something out. That's it. And yes, someone is lying. You agree with me and you don't even know it. :P

Didn't read the entire thread, but I call shenanigans. The one thing that didn't make sense to me is that the rumor stated that other human colonies would be attacked if the player chose colony as their origin. What colonies are that important for the Reapers to attack instead of attacking Earth, or the Citadel? Stupid.

The Reapers wouldn't destroy the Citadel even if they could, they still need it to continue their cycle of destruction as they have been doing for centuries, and the Council races wouldn't be able to destroy it nor would it suit their purposes since it is a veritable fortress compared to anything else they might hole up in.

Oh, I misinterpreted what you had said, I thought you meant Chris was out of line for saying the guy claiming he had a source was wrong.

Misunderstandings happen all the time. but it's nice when the people involved in one realize it. I probably should have been clearer about what my point was. Anyway, no harm done ;)

Don't know if it has been mentioned, but on the masseffect.com main page, when the ME3 trailer comes up, if you don't hit play, you will see in the upper left that it says "Earth". Do they normally include a title within each trailor?

I know how hard it is to determine plausibility with these sorts of things, but I appreciate the post.  I love speculation when it is within reason.  Great info, I hope it's accurate!  It's a very interesting idea.

Interesting guess. Not correct, but still quite interesting.

Darn!

I still hope background and such are at least mentioned ... like Akuze.  <_<  No, BW, you will never live that down.  Sorry.

Early Squaddie deaths?

You mean like that one human woman from Dragon Age: Awakening? That early? =p

A large and substantial quest that only exists for each type of background Shepherd can be given? I doubt it. A lot of unecessary work after all, I think it was covered with the random comments NPCs came out with in the original ME. Gamefaqs isn't really much if a news source lets face it.

You know how many people say, "An inside source told me _____________"?

People are so quick to believe things.

Gah! I hope it's true.

My Spacer/War Hero and Spacer/Ruthless characters have as much attachment to Earth as a cowboy of the American Old West had for the Parthenon.

Spacer FTW

Not if you´ve ever heard of Vampire The Masquerade ;D

As for the news, it would really be pretty cool. And you said "not correct" and not "wrong".
So yeah, can´t wait for more :)
