hi and merry christmass
could anyone give me some suggestions. i want to make a 4-man party for various campaigns (including soz if i get bored enugh) and i'm not sure about the last char.
he has to be able to tank melee hits and he has to have a rogue level + tons of skill points for traps and spot/listen/whatever. if he gets survival that's even better since mod makers get a boner from making that skill check every time you take more than 3 steps.
also, he really should be good all the way trough the game except maybe the first 8-9 levels where a cleric/fighter in full plate + tower shield can tank anything anyway.
i don't mind +3 ecl from dg, but i really don't want an xp penalty on top of that so nwn2 style cleric-monk-rogue cheese is out of the questions.
i fiddled with a lvl 20+ druid (elder air elemental + tortoise shell) with monk and rogue level and rest duelist. end stats look impressive (especially with a retarded 8-8-8-18-18-8 stat spread) - he gets around 70 ac naked (buffed ofc) and can max pretty much every relevant skill in the game but it doesn't go much further no matter what gear he gets. this is ofc with a human. dg's ac bonus works when shapeshifted for some reason so he would be stronger, but i wish to reach lvl 10 before easter.
an alternative i considered was a dex-based, shield using dg rogue with ib levels 8 (for some reason wearing shield doesn't disable his canny defense, at least it says so on the char screen) and epic dodge but i'm not really sure how to level him properly tbh. i did some experimenting with builds like that and the end ac reaches 90 but it's a real stretch (+12 dex items etc.). can't hit anything though and 6 charisma hurts his bluff skill which is already kinda useless. considering he will be the main tank, that's the only way he will be able to get sneak attacks off...
i'm open to any suggestion, don't have any more ideas. thx.
a good tank/utility character build

What campaign are you playing where 70 AC is not good enough?

Druid is all defense, no offense, which i think is what you are noting. ( 70 AC on a druid does no good when you sit there not being hit but can't hit anything. )
