I've carried a character through ME1 and ME2, so I understand how romances work. What I'm wondering is what happens in ME1 if you are initially rude to, say, Ashley as soon as you wake in the infirmary and in the mess hall?
I've never done this (always have played a Paragon) and I'm wondering about this since I'm going to do a ME 1&2 Renegade playthough now. I realize that you don't HAVE to be a dick with every response, but I'm curious if not being nice during those first two instances locks you out of a romance with her for the rest of the game.

Basically to avoid initiating the romance with Ashley pick the "You're out of line" option when she questions you about Garrus and Wrex being on the ship.
You can start off being a dick but still get the romance flagged, but the only way to avoid is to pick the option i told you or just not talk to her at all.
