So I'm pretty in to tattoos and was thinking about getting a Mass Effect themed one.  I was thinkiing either an N7 on my chest or a pic of Mordin or Wrex.

Anyone else have a ME tattoo?  I saw an alliance one on google images but thats it.

It's as bad an idea as getting a boyfriend/girlfriend's name tattooed, or a band logo.

If I remember right, somebody got an N7 tattoo on g33kwatch.com's Mass Effect marathon.

If you want to get one, get a VERY SMALL one somewhere that won't be too embarrassing or painful to get removed when you realize what a horrible mistake it was 10 years down the line. I recommend N7, because it's not a weird alien face that will terrify future lovers, and has no real meaning to those who don't know what ME is.

Don't listen to the naysayers.  Get it big and someplace visible.

The only way I would ever recommend a "game themed" tattoo is if the game somehow, on some level represents something in your life. Take me for example, I just recently got the Assassin's Creed Crest tattooed on my left shoulder (would post pics but my camera is broken :( ) And to me, the crest represents the creed itself: "Where other men blindly follow the truth remember - Nothing is true. Where other men are bound by morality or law remember - Everything is permitted" Which is how I personally live my life in a nutshell.

So yea, unless there is some aspect of "Mass Effect" you can apply to your "core beliefs" or your life in general, I'd strongly advise against it.

If you want the tattoo, its your choice. I knew someone who had the word cheese tattooed to his inner lip and he never regretted it even after a decade and two kids. If you like it, go for it. If you hate cover it up/shell out the money for removal.

Also my vote is for the N7. Though depending how into tattoos you are, I also kinda like mordin.

I would recommend something that is ambiguous for those unaware of ME and a nod of awesome to the fanbase. The N7 is a good example. It would not come across as strange or awkward down the road but is awesome all the same. Another example is this. Clicky!

Looks pretty nice right? Assuming you have never played the game it is associated with. Would you have known it is from Final Fantasy X?

In any event. It is your preference so shoot for whatever you fancy. If you wish for a giant Krogan on your back. There is nothing stopping you.

If you want one then get it. And getting a tattoo because of a game is fine. I want to get some tattoos at some point here soon and I'm still having ideas. But I'd get them somewhere I could cover them. Like back or leg or shoulders. Something simple you can cover if you get a job that says you can't have them show.

And Bourne, it doesn't look from a game. Oh have any of you seen the guy with a whole sleeve for videogames. Check the ME2 thing on facebook or google it. I can't temember his name but it was wicked. (I'd give you all a link, but I don't have one right this moment XD)

Tho if you really want a ME tattoo then get one. I mean go for it, nody will stop you. Just think about it before you get one. It's exspensive to remove plus leaves scars or you live with it forever and might regret it one day.

If you do get one, awesome! Tattos are a way to express yourself and I'm all for them.

I'm most likely going with an N7 on my chest. Back of the leg doesn't sound so bad either, I could just image wrex or mordin there.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

I just got one yesterday!  I plan on getting another ME themed one(most likely renegade symbol) later on down the road.  Clicky for tat--->  http://img.photobuck...er/DSCN0534.jpg

I don't care what anyone says.  I love it!  I plan on getting the Renegade symbol as well... basically to remind myself I have a choice.  I can be a goog little girl in life or be an ****.

I have a Paragon wing on my right hip. I'm getting the Renegade on my left today actually. I want the N7 somewhere but I'm not sure I want it on my chest.

Yes, because tattoos of something you highly enjoy are dumb.  Tattoos should be of something generic, not of things you're fond of.

That's my Spectre tattoo.  :D

Ok first of all, unless Mass Effect is a huge part of your life - I.E. you work on the development team or something, you should consider NOT doing this.

If you must get a Tattoo, make sure it is something generic and symbolic, like a renegade star or the N7 people suggest - but remember if someone in the future asks (I.E. fiance down the line), you will have to explain it and might be embarrassed.

Finally, DO NOT GET IT ANYWHERE THAT IT CANNOT BE COVERED UP.
Unless you are a professional musician with a solid career, a lifer in the military, or have some other job where personal appearance is not an issue (mechanic, exc), place it somewhere on the body that can be covered with basic clothing (short sleeves and pants).

The reason for this --> first impressions are everything in this shallow world. You could be the coolest, nicest, most awesome person in the world and when people first meet you all they are going to see is that ink. If you can cover it up, it allows you to make good impressions before, therefore forestalling any judgment (or lack there-of) of people in the workplace. I have seen good med-students get bad evaluations from preceptors simply because they have a simple sleeve tattoo that you can see when they are wearing scrubs. Hard working, intelligent, compassionate professionals that get judged by something that has nothing to do with the outside world. When you go to the bank to get that mortgage - you don't want the loan officer seeing ink and thinking "What a lowlife, denied automatically." This is the 21st century - and people are just as bigoted as ever.

Don't allow yourself that mistake.

I wouldn't consider it a mistake to knowingly do something completely unoffensive that some douchebag could judge you for. It's like a guy wearing long hair/girl with short hair.

It's not a mistake, but it can affect your life. It broke my heart to see my friend get poor evaluations because of someone elses opinion of his tattoo - those evaluations are something that are going to follow him for the rest of his life. Everytime he moves to a new location, the interviewers are going to bring it up, and he'll have to explain himself, hoping that those judging him at this particular point in time are not going to make the seem judgements as the original assessor.

The worst part is... the artwork could be considered in good taste even in polite company. Like I said, people are just as bigoted forever. Having the face of a sci-fi alien tattoo'ed on yourself will bring some unwanted and negative attention, and I was hoping to persuade the OP to consider his choices carefully.

However, I also believe in the United States of do whatever the ^*&^ you want, so I don't want to tell him not to do that, just to try to encourage him in what I believe is the correct choice of action.

Heavy handed and condenscending. I admit to that. I also admit that I may be wrong. I actually hope that I am, and that people will become more enlightened in the future. It would bring a smile to my face.

Edit: I just realized that the OP wrote "I'm pretty into tattoo's" -- meaning most likely he's probably already got a bunch of em. Meaning I get the douche award of the day . :pinched:

The main point is, know your element and know what you're willing to sacrifice for what. Don't ever just say "don't do that" because, although stereotypes exist, most people are actually smart enough not to care. As for myself, I'm a guy with long hair and my spectre tattoo is right on my forearm. I have a good, well paying, office job, too. I live in a highly conservative area, too, but my persona in life more then makes up for any perceived stereotype.

My best friend, however, isn't so lucky. She has almost an entire sleeve (still working on some of the filler) and a mohawk. She has a 140 IQ and a much better and higher paying job then I do, yet she knows that, even though her supervisor loves it all, the director of her department doesn't. So, she wears long sleeves and a wig at work. It's all about what you're willing to give up for what you're wanting in life.

As far as "don't get a gaming tattoo because you might have to explain it and be embarrassed"...yeah, if you think you'll be embarrassed about a tattoo, then definitely just don't get it. That's just dumb in general. Like I said, mine is on my forearm and I wear it loud and proud. I have never been embarrassed about being a "gamer". If you are, honestly, get over it and hang out with different people if the people you know hate on you for it. They're definitely douches in that case.

As long as they know how to take care of it and actually put the effort into it, at least.  :P  My morning routine is worse then most girls.
