Could anybody (devs maybe) shed some light on this cool sounding mage specialization?

According to DG it is when Bioware forces you to play a mage. *shrug*

I don't have the original quote here sorry.

The basic answer, if you hadn't guessed from the other comments, is that we just don't know...

blood mage, spirit healer and force mage,

maybe force mage is an elemental specialization (fire/air/water/earth) or a psychic, or arcane.

But the game needs some elemental.

I want all and Keeper too ^^

What bsbcaer wrote. We are totally clueless and from David Gaider's comment in another thread, it is unlikely they are going to give us an answer for now. I am currently in agreement with the camp predicting it will be based on the telekinesis line in the spirit school. I hope mind-affecting spells are not part of it, though; as that seems to properly belong to blood magic.

I want specializations for each school magic

Arcane, Primal, Creation, Spirit, Entropy and Blood.

And specializations for all talents too, Dual, Archery, Weapon and Shield, 2 Handed.

It's the right thing to have in the game. All deserve to have specializations in accordance with the weapon you uses.

Force mage sounds like it deals with powerful forces, so to me it sounds like elemental magic.

I'm guessing it's what will replace the Arcane warrior. Physical force; for instance spells that increase knockback and damage when using the staff in melee.

I still think it's the Dragon Age version of an adept

I personally think it would make sense to think of a "Force Mage" as having the same general powers as the biotics of Mass Effect. Namely: "Push", "Pull", "Lift", "Throw", some sort of A.O.E. spell which mimics the effects of "singularity", and some sort of enemy weakening spell similar to "Warp" or even maybe "Stasis".

I highly doubt they will give a mage in DA powers like "Charge" but based on the flame spell we have been shown in both the revealed gameplay and in concept art, a "shockwave"-like spell seems like a very logical possibility.

I also feel compelled to speculate that a defensive spell which repeats the effects of "Repulsion Field" from DA:A might be added.

Yea, it just took me a bit longer because I fleshed the idea out a bit more.

DA is not D&D so it could mean nothing. But in D&D force based magic was a type of damage that was not elemental in nature, but pure magical force, therefore it did not suffer from enemy resistance like elemental magic did and always hit for full damage.

I want to know why this type of mage wasn't introduced in Origins. It seems unlikely that mages would just start using force magic out of nowhere.

I hope Bioware explains this.
