Thing is, I recall telling Liara that Shepard didn't have any feelings for her whatsoever...

Now, since I was thinking of importing my savegame to ME2 and I really couldn't cheat on Ash I 'd rather have her die on Virmire and pursue a romance with Liara (if at all possible).

Is there a way to do so?

dam pressed submit to quickly and wont let me edit it... anyways.



What you do is follow the instructions to extra, modio then opent he save file with gibbed editor.



Once you do that you do the following:



The tabs: Plot>Mass effect 1> Flags



You will see down at the botoom or near it, things that say:



(player) romanced someone

(Player) romanced ashley/liara/kaiden



Now what you will see with your file is romanced someone is checked... if your romanced someone lol. ANd whoever you romanced specifically.



What you do is just uncheck the specific suqad member and choose who you wanted to have Romanced.



So there are many ways to go about it:

1. You could have had a romanced... almost a romanced with Ash but she died on virmire, and then on ME2 pursue Liara... which I dont know if it is possible I dont have the LOTSB.



2. You could change the flags so that Ashley is alive, but you tell the game that who you romanced was actually Liara from the very beginning, is like you passed a game again romancing liara, but you dont spend the 20+ hrs doing so.



After you selected the box in the order you want. Example: I romanced Ashley, but I didn't want to pass the game again but I didn't want her to die.

So I unchecked romanced ashley.

Then I checked romanced Liara.



So ashley is alive in ME2 but I never pursued her at all.





After the changes after done to the check boxes, you need to do something else you need to change the values in the plot> mass effect 1> values tab



Down where it says PLayer, romance progress with ash/kaiden/liara.



Completely forgot what values go inthere, but I know I always put 3 to whicever I did not romance... which I think it tells the game we were good friends, yes including kaiden, and I put 6 on whoever I did romanced.



So in my game I romanced liara, and my gibbed file says.

Player, Romance progress with Ashley=3

Player, Romance progress with Kaiden=3

Player, Romance progress with Liara=6



Now what does the numbers mean I dont remember the notes tab say to put it to 4, but every time I import a file from ME1 it says 6.... not sure why.



Now hopefully someone will clear this bit I just mentioned but the last step is the tedious one.





You already are modding an ME2 file... with these changes it will not take effect until after a new game is done.... so you need to set the flag on this file as if you already beat the game, then use this file and import and ME2 file to make a new game. Doing so will make this changes kick in.



So to be specific. you modify this file, changes the flag of "live to fight another day" so the game thinks this save already beat the game. You go to new game, import ME2 save, and import using the previously modified.



Why? not sure hwy but it has to be done, your little romantic photo on your cabin wont change just in the middle of the game, you have to use this modified game as an import in ME2 to get the changes to kick in for some reason.

That makes it for ME2... but thing is, can't I edit it so that in ME 1 itself I can pick up from where I left and romance Liara?

No the method Darth ... or whoever discovered it is not to edit ME1 save files, believe me I.... everyone interested has been searching for a way to mod ME1 files but no. This method is simply a way of telling the game that your "imported" save file from ME1 is like this and that, has nothing to do with modding the ME1 itself, rather its records that are found in the ME2 so no.



You can't just pick up.



What I would suggest is manipulating the game a bit. I will search through my papers, although you might have a faster way in wiki on how to get liara and Ash to be at the same point in romance before VIrmire.



Why do I say this? simply because all my saves have my shep stop talking to both Liara and Ash in a way that both think I am interested in them... more info got to be in wiki since I think I got the idea there, but basically I have em talk to me to a certain point, go do virmire, after I return they both have their little cat fight and I choose which one. I finish the game with one romance option, then load up the game before virmire ends, right around the time of the conversation with soverign's interface. I beat the game from there again but with the opposite romance option.



That is as close as you can get to manipulating the game. Anythign more than that is well beyond my scope of knowledge sry.
