Tried to search the forums, but couldn't find any reasults.  At main DAO screen and all through character creation, my mouse cursor is invisible.  It works, if I magically get it to point over what I want, so the mouse is there and apparently operating properly, but I just can't see it!

I have an ATI 5800, on Vista.

Already tried different drivers, and can't find any option to "disable hardware cursor acceleration", which has historically been a magic solution to this kind of problem over the years.

Any links to possible solutions?

Since no one seemed to be able to help, including the EA technical "support" folks, I thought I'd post a work-around that let me at least play the game: windowed mode. It kills performance, but my mouse cursor is visible in this mode and I can actually play. Hopefully this helps someone out there, I know how frustrated I was at not being able to play. :(

Sorry for the late response but I lost this and finally found it when search came back. Try this post:

I find it odd that windowed mode reduces performance. I play it in windowed 1600x1024 full everything ( this is a personal choice. I play every game I can in windowed mode as I'm often very busy on forums, in twitter accounts and even with 2 monitors I need to be able to get out of a game screen quickly, without using Alt-tab which i find is killing more games these days )

I don't have any issues with performance, the game is blistering and beautiful.

As for your problem I'm glad you found a way ro play but it's clearly a graphic driver issue when the cursor disappears ( and has been going on for the 25 years I've been PC gaming )

That is not to say the driver is faulty but a combination of your system, drivers and game instruction clearly does not work.

If it happens enough then ATI will throw out a fix as they have been very good with drivers for some years now.

I've got the same issue on a Dell 1530 XPS laptop with an NVidia 8600M graphics card and the latest WHQL drivers (186.81). Running on Vista SP2 32-bit. It's not that rare a configuration, hopefully this is going to get a proper fix, the game should work correctly regardless of the settings in your mouse control panel.

For anyone whose cursor comes into view when moved, but only as a blinker, then goes invisible, you may have something called "Mouse Trails" in the Control Panel Mouse Settings applet turned on. Turn those completely off.

Is that all it is?! I've never had a problem like this before and I was hoping it was something simple and not a bug. Can't wait to see if this fixes the problem.

Seems pretty simple to me!

Mouse trails are off by default in Windows 7, but I still have no mouse cursor in the game. Very frustrating, not being able to play at all. NVidia GeForce 8800GTS, latest WHQL drivers and Beta also.

I have a problem with my mouse cursor also being invisible. And before anybody says anything, I'm pretty sure that my issue is not as simple as many would think. First, this is a new bug/issue that I have with the game. I have 2 different characters that I have played with the game running flawlessly on my system. In fact, I played the game earlier today with no problems. I then shut the game down to eat dinner and to take a break. The computer was not in use by anyone during this time. When I came back and started the game again, the cursor was gone. I could still struggle to highlight options on the main menu, just no more cursor. I tried rebooting my rig, reloading the game several times, etc. but nothing seemed to make it come back.

All of my drivers are up to date (mouse,gpu,dx10,etc..)

I have a streamlined rig specifically built by me for gaming, hardware is not the issue.

I am running Vistax64 and I never have any "extra" mouse cursor options, themes, etc. enabled.

running the game in "windowed" mode does NOT correct the issue.

rebooting did NOT correct the issue.

Game ran fine after newest patch and DLC's before now. (not sure if it is delayed bug from patch)

there was only about an hour's length of time between when the game last worked correctly to the newly developed invisible cursor issue.

Please note, I have NOT tried reinstalling the game. want to avoid that if possible.

Also, I tried loading my save games to see if it forced the cursor to come back and the game reported an error stating "unable to load module". not sure why this error comes up now either.

If anybody has any other ideas, i would greatly appreciate the help in resolving this issue.
