I highly doubt its most antipated game next year, consider the massive compeitition

1. Witcher 2 (my personal choice)
2. Duke nukem forever
3. Starcrat 2 (expansion)
4. Announced next year Elder scrolls 5 Skyrimm
5. Diablo 3
6. Mass effect 3
7. Dawn Of war 2 Retribution
8. Shogun II total war

Duke nukem forever will appeal to those people who are old enough to remember it. Its not going to appeal to anyone born around the time it first came out.

I don't think it will flop but it won't be as huge as people predict.

Looking forward to DA2, TOR, and ME3 for the most part. I'm also looking forward to Dead Space 2 and Deus Ex, though to a lesser extent.

I'm not sure why but I thoroughly loathed The Witcher. I gave it a very honest attempt and simply could not finish the game. I may give it another go at some point but, currently due to that, I'm not in the least bit interested in TW2.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword all the way for me!

Yeah, DA2 and ME3 are at the top of my list, I love them so much, but neither of them are topping SWTOR for me. I have been dreaming about a KOTOR MMO years before it was ever announced.

Yet these people contend that it allows true role-playing, when it actually forces Geralt in his entirety and all of his motivations upon you as a player, completely removing the player's authority in providing rationale for their decisions. I consider that a cornerstone of roleplaying games, and hence in my opnion the game fails to deliver as an RPG in a hideous fashion.

Wth is "true role-playing"??   Sorry, I'm not buying it...

I think I know what you mean but I'm a bit confused by your application of the concept to anything that imposes necessary constraints.

We're not talking multi-player sandboxes here but rather things story-driven, which always have a myriad constraints on player freedom.  Surely you start to play a game with an open mind, prepared to accept/embrace a whole bunch of conditions so long as the thing immerses you and allows at least the illusion of choice?  if your choices actually impact on your experience and you are indeed immersed by whatever devices deployed then surely you are truly role-playing your character.   The amount and type of constraints usually have little to do with it, for mine.

The witcher I've beaten only, what?, twice now, Mass effect only 1, not bothering to get anything else in mass effect, while Origin i've beaten over a dozen times.

So yeah, for me its very clear which squeal is the most anticipated for me.

How dare you! NOBODY makes more bugs than Obisidan!

At least CD Projekt fixed their game very quickly. Obisidan creates more bugs with each patch

CD Projekt is a Polish studio, but their publisher released an unpolished game ! Get it ! Haha I'm so funny :P

Unfortunately, you're likely looking at $150 right there. I like their games, but damn Blizzard will sure milk it.

It isn't about the cost. It's just that I am not interested in 1/3rd of the plot. I care nothing for multiplayer. Especially the insane competitiveness that is Starcraft.

I play The Witcher as an
action adventure game with RPG elements. But that's because I really
don't care if a game fits into one of my narrow definitions of what
genre the game belongs in - I like a lot of different genres. Labels,
whether we're talking about TW or DAO or ME2 don't
really do much for me except when they start to become meaningless and
misleading - like Bioware's liberal use of the "action RPG" tag.

That's my take on it too. Personally, I just care if the features are fun or not.

DA2, though, remains the game that looks to give me the closest to my ideal of features for an RPG, i.e. party-based combat, along with ME style PC VO and presentation. Plus it has the kind of aesthetic I like in terms of armour and combat.

I tend not to have that much time available. DAII is the only game I am currently following. ME3... I am just waiting for the chance to rant about Schizoid Shepard, Who The Writers Cannot Agree On. Honestly, one reason I'm excited about DA2 is that sarcastic, aggresive, etc. are just not things you can interrpret as differently as paragon or renegade.

Bethesda earns that title.  Oblivion is one of the buggiest games have ever played on top of all the technical problems it has.

Personally, I can't wait for Hyperdimension Neptunia!

Seriously, you play as the Sega Neptune, fight with the Xbox, PS3, and Wii, team up with Gust, Nippon Ichi, Idea Factory, and Compile Heart, then you all band together to fight pirating.

Between DA2 and ME3 I think ME3 will beat the living **** out of DA2.

Between those 2 and the Witcher 2 then I think the Witcher will laugh at them while it takes the flag as best RPG of the year.

And then...then we shall see the stand off of the century. The Witcher 2 versus Duke Nukem vs Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm.

Honestly, every time someone mentions The Witcher 2 on these forums, I hate it just a bit more. I'm so sick of it being compared to DA2, when the things people complain about in this game are features of TW2.

This.

Glad to see someone else here who isn't head-over-heels in love with "The Witcher 2".

Yeah, it is really too bad if someone can't enjoy the Witcher. It is a wonderful game. And it's 4 euros on Steam today. Ridiculously awesome.

As good as I'm hoping DA2 (heck, I voted for it) will be, I wouldn't mind if TW2 is an even greater success.

The Witcher seems to have a very snobbish fanbase. I don't hate the Witcher but I can't help get the impression that fans of the game come across as smug as if their preference for the game indicates a better taste or superior intelligence. Must be because it's a PC only title.

I'm pleased Dragon Age II won.  It is certainly my most anticipated game of early 2011.

Totally untrue. It's just an amazing game that is at least on par with what Bioware does. And as for the PC title remark, well TW2 is scheduled to come out on X360 and PS3 as well, so...

I don't meant to deride PC gamers, Hell I'm a PC gamer myself but I have been subject to more than a few snide comments on these forums from fans of The Witcher who imply that The Witcher is for more mature gamers and that those who don't like it just don't "get it" or aren't mature enough for it with the justification being that it's a PC game.

I think I know what you mean but I'm a bit confused by your application of the concept to anything that imposes necessary constraints.

You misunderstood. Many Witcher fans (but not all!) think The Witcher is "the only true RPG left in the world". I don't believe any game is the "one true RPG." (Admittedly I could probably say the same thing about DAO fans)

Also, imposing a character's motivations upon me as a player for a decision that *I* as the player make is not only unnecessary, it's outright immersion breaking. {Insert your favourite DO NOT WANT pic here} But I don't want to turn this into a "why I don't like the Witcher" thread. I can accept that some people love it.

Regardless, I want DA2. :) Which is why I'm on these forums.

If the Witcher/Dragon Age was the "true" RPG, we wouldn't be having all these wars...

Anyway, I'm mildly surprised that DA2 is the "most anticipated" game of early 2011. Then again, all the games of 2011 I know about are late 2011...

Those are not Witcher fans, they are just the same bunch of trolls that we find around in every forum. A troll that is never happy with ANYTHING, it LOVES the Witcher but yet, in a other post that same person will comment on how he HATES it too...

But the whole 'RPG' fanbase to me is just ****ed up. It's the most juvenile and snobbish in the gaming community. Really, how many times will you see 'The Witcher is the best RPG because so and so', then you'll get a other person comparing 'The Witcher' to 'Baldurs gate' making a war about it, THEN you'll get people in-between who want to have their little fun and add 'They both aren't that good, I think Diablo's a way better...' and so goes on the cirlce of life, until a person with a unreal knowladge of vocabulary kicks everybodies ass because they use words no-body in this god-damn world will understand...

That's my rant for today feel free to eat my soul and call me jackass.

To be fair, people know what they're getting into with TW2.

BioWare's the one that's messed with DAO's formula.

To use a food analogy, I like ice cream and I like spaghetti, but that doesn't mean that I like spaghetti right out of the freezer.
