(this just reminded me of the whole star wars old trilogy vs new trilogy thing)

Never underestimate a company's ability to milk a franchise. Tomb Raider hasn't been good for years, but they're still shelling those out.

As for the rest of your post, well that's just your opinion coupled with a guess (Which will likely be accurate, unfortunately), so there's not much to work with.

Finally i'd like to think that these debates are a bit less stupid than Old vs. New trilogy, but they both really do seem to come down to a matter of preference.

If one company can take a "milking" franchise and keep it interesting for years to come, it's BioWare. They had one bad Witch Hunt DLC - big deal - other DLCs were either amazing or good. Awakening was good, though albeit too short. I don't hink Mr. Gaider and co wil run out of DA stories anytime soon.

What? Liara was over a century old. hehe

Ah, you missed my "OMG Liaria is creepy" ME1 posts. Her second or third conversation with you was "Why it's totally cool and not weird to sleep with an Asari." She couldn't have made it more obvious if she had a giant billboard around her neck that said "Landing Dock:Shepard Only".

Which was less content, and less high value content at that. Not as good either, frankly.

We don't really know where
DA2 is going to fall, of course.  Maybe the fixed character will
actually mean more in-depth romances.  If they are, I'll happily eat my
paranoia.

It is a different team writing the romances. The main thing will be if you can comment on your relationship outside of the 1-on-1 "romance moments" because that's what made ME1/ME2 seem shallow. The actual content was more or less the same.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

I was just a tad weirded out by how she was really angling for the whole interspecies sex deal is totally cool angle. Liara is not the nice and quiet girl people take her for.

Confusion abounds for those of us who like both styles of gameplay.

I don't really mind the fact that the PC is voiced but I am happy that they added an expression marker to the dialogue because when playing DAO and then suddenly i get a -15 to their approval bar because the way the sentance sounded in my head was different to the way my PC said.

Sure she is. A person can be nice and quiet in general and then act in a semi-aggressive manner if, for example, they're a 100-year-old virgin who has just had their life saved by someone they see as highly attractive.

Oh, absolutely. Sometimes underneath the nerd-girl exterior you find a total ho.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Indeed people can suprise you in various ways and lets not forget asari are not human so they may see sex differently.

I guess you're right. I tend to hang around a different crowd. Mostly I'm the passive one that gets hit on pretty often (whoever says girls don't hit on guys is just plain wrong) and so that exposes me mostly to a particular kind of aggresive girl? I don't have very much experience with inexperience. I would just expect that if someone where really sheltered like Liara initally gave the impression of being, the conversation would not steer toward sex and implied attraction quite so rapidly.

Does Liara actually say anything about previous experiences? I can't recall anything.

Don't you basically go all the way with Liara just by letting her scan your mind?

Anyway...

"Good" is always going to be subjective.  Between plot gifts and personal quest as well as camp dialogues, it amounts to a lot mroe content and better to me.

Again, I disagree.  Garrus did a lot of calibrating.

She point blank tells you she's a virgin, though in silly sci-fi speak.

Technically. And the green asari on Feros too. But I'd be that's one of those unfortunate implication type deals.

Are we distinguishing between romance track only content and overlap with 'friendship' content? Because most of the camp-fire dialogue and plot gifts are available for both. I was drawing attention to unique romance content.

Again, I disagree.  Garrus did a lot of calibrating.

But you mentioned plot gifts, so I am curious if you count friendship path content as romance content.

The companions in ME1 were some of the most shallow of any BioWare game I've played. ME2 was a giant step forward for that series. I still think that the DA 2 companions will have more content and depth than ME companions.

Imagine if for the next DA project, instead of just playing Hawke, you could play Hawke, Kestrel, or Raven! *dreams*

But I really think I'll prefer "attitude representing what the character will say" style, if they can do it better than the Mass Effect team did (don't get me wrong; I loved it, but in both ME games, it could be very confusing/ambiguous.) I love the system the ME guys came up with, but it could be executed more clearly.

I'm not gonna buy a lot of DA2 copies, but I will do what I always do--tell every person I talk to who even might be interested about it. I do want them to make more money and produce continually awesome games.

As far as I'm concerned, Bioware can take over the WORLD.

I don't think buying multiple copies of something you don't want is a good way to encourage Bioware to produce something you do want. It will just reinforce their belief that "hey, voiceovers are what the fans really want". Voiceovers are great until you get stuck with a voice you don't like. Because it's your character you are stuck listening to that voice over and over again. That pretty much ruins a game for me. At least with voiced companions if I don't want to listen to a character I can just not talk to them. How many people on this forum complained about the angry voice "can I get you a ladder so you can get off my back?", now imagine what would happen if you had to put up with that constantly. Count me out.

Adrenaline infatuation. You did rescue her from certain starvation, and immediately after that certain death at the hands of geth and a krogan. Then you proceed to go on a number of thrilling combat sorties together.

You realize it is a game? Just sayin'

And to the OP,  if your theory was correct, how do you explain the rather bad expansion and dlcs after the success of DA:O? I don't think it is as easy as 'give them more money so they can make better games'.
