Quantity of sales doesn't define a good game.

How many burgers does McDonald's sell in a day? Would anyone call that good food?

It's not supposed to be gourmet and no one expects it to. The general public loves a nice sit down restaurant just as much as they love a cheap, but sinful cheeseburger that they pick up on lunch break.

Well, it seems that Dragon Age PC is doing good at digital distribution, tops both Steam and D2D, keep it up so we can get DA:O 2 :)

vgchartz is no reliable source - at all. I don't understand much about the video game industry, but this I know.

Beyond guessing, its hard to say what the PC sales figures are like without the digital sales figures. I still have no idea why Digital Distributors can't release the figures, as they count for a big chunk of any games PC sales nowadays.

I have nothing against the PC, i am 30 years old and have been a console gamer all my life though, PC is just too expensive to keep up with if you want to play the latest and greatest games your shelling out at MINIMUM $400 every two years, if not more in less time.

Also glad to see Dragon Age selling so well, but even know its better for the PC if you have a computer that can run it that is, Consoles pretty much own the video game market, and contribute to about 90 % of video game sales every year.

Milli Vanilli sold a lot of albums. Doesn't mean they could actually sing.

Can someone please put this tired arguement out of its misery? It shows up everytime something sells a lot, whether it's good or bad.

The fact is that nobody likes the guy on top. Everyone hated EA and now everyone hates Activision. Everyone hates WoW and everyone hates MW2. The iPhone was the coolest thing ever until everyone bought one and now they suck. Give it a rest.

And as someone else said, VGChartz makes up all those numbers. They are no more reliable than if you or I made a website and drew some graphs based on word-of-mouth sales, or guessing based on performance of similar titles.

I remember years ago hearing we'd never get to see a game like this again because the PC was dead. There will always be a PC market untill the console owns the hearts of the developers.

Yeah! 'cause bandwagoning never gets "tired" and amount of sales proves everything! Way to bark consumerist alpha dog! Woof! Power to the sheeple!!!

Not realy true, PC, can be kept up to date much cheaper, secondly console gamer always tend to forget the price of the telivision set the need to play up on.

And the biggets difference between sales figures is the marketing. all consoles have their own marketing system, Microsoft tends to create that for the PC as well with games for windows, though it worfks a bit different.

So most total pc sale keep abit shady. Strange thing is also the talk about piracy which centralises on pc piracy though I know for one piracy one the consoles is at least as big.

You can't count my TV, i bought it 3 years ago and will have it more than likely for another 7:P

My friend plays PC games and he is constantly upgrading, one time, he bought a 400 dollar graphics card and a year later it broke down.

But of course its true, sales do not a good thing make, i hate when people use the argument, it sells a lot and is popular so it must be good:P I'm looking at you Pokemon fans:P

No, but if a good game sells well, I'll give you three guesses as to what sort of money might go into DLC/expansions/sequels.  In general, the more a property pays off, the easier it is to get more money to put into growing it.  That means more man-hours, which means more content and/or more time and care put into said content.

In theory, anyways.  After all, they cannot put in resources they don't have.

Just like you forgot that the television is also used to watch .... television.

Do you have a television?

I would own a TV whether or not I owned a consol.  So would you.

I don't care what the sales figures say, MW2 is a waste of money. I will not spend $60 dollars on a game which doesn't have mods, dedicated servers and uses a ****ty matchmaking system. It would be a game I would be tired of in 2 months at most. Without mods for competitive play or altered gameplay it would be a waste. I am a poor graduate student and I don't care to waste my money on bs games like that.

Activision and IW clearly don't respect the pc gamer due to their responses to the petition concerning dedicated servers, so I don't respect them.

@Argus_Eyes: Yes, piracy does hit both computer and console, it is evident if you just browse a torrent site. Although I believe there are more hurdles when pirating games for consoles however.

Oh, MW2 is awesome too, I wouldn't pay much attention to the extremely vocal retards.

Also, Nintendo apparently has the best marketing department ever.

This is going off on a tangent, but:

The problem with MW2 is that Activision basically just ported the console version to PC. None of the expected and usual multiplayer options (for previous games) are present. I had origionally intended to purchase the game, however, I'm not giving money to a company that clearly doesn't care about PC gamers. If Activision isn't interested in making PC games anymore, that's fine. I just won't buy their games.

I think console gamers tend to forget the cost of their PC, myself; even if you don't play PC games, you almost certainly want a PC for other purposes. You could buy a really cheap machine and not replace it for five years, but it would be a fairly sorry PC even for web browsing and media. By getting a higher-end PC, not only can I play PC games, but it will do anything I want responsively and multitask pretty much anything without issues.

Incidentally, my PC is almost two years old, and, while fairly good on release, wasn't top-of-the-line. I'm playing DAO now on the highest settings at 1920x1200. Some people like to upgrade immediately whenever something better comes out, but you really don't need to do that (especially now, when it seems that game requirements have somewhat plateaued).

Are you sure you aren't just caught up in the hype? Are you sure you aren't just biased because you may be an Activision or Infinity Ward fanboy? Have you even thought of the implications of the lack of dedicated servers might be? Do you even know what anti-lag is? Do you realize that the PC version is essentially a glorified console port? Is there a problem with the PC getting a glorified console port? Yes.

Essentially what PC gamers are getting is a basic model of last years car, which all of the wheels, gadgets and shiny bits torn off. All IW did was create more weapons, maps and gamemodes, then they called it a new game, neglecting to mention that this time they didn't add any of the features PC gamers expect.

Nothing around MW2 is original, creative, or new. This game will be forgotten in a year, two at most. It will NOT be remembered with great games such as Starcraft, the Quake series (I, II, III, IV and Live), or Counterstrike 1.6.
